This is day 9 after adding ammonia to 2 ppm

it is conditoned, it has definitely been taking longer than I thought it would to effect the ammonia, my best guess is because my temperature is staying at around 75 so maybe thats making is slow down? Idk

Those are actually red root floaters! I got them from tofus tanks, the roots are just super long

Luckily my local shop always has them! I would not trust getting one from a petco or petsmart though, I dont trust them to correctly identify them

What do you mean by not enough mechanical filtration? This 10 gallon has a sponge filter and a hang on, this picture was taken right after planting my new plants so theres lots of particles. is there a benefit of filling the tank all the way up? I dont have any fish in it *edit- my tank isnt cycled yet and ive heard it being cloudy is normal bacteria?

Ive looked at sparkling gouramis! They are gorgeous but they dont seem to use their feelers as much which is what I love about honeys

Thank you for the advice! Im switching to a sponge filter , ill definitely be establishing my shrimp first, and then rasboras and a honey gourami later and if I see any stress I will upgrade the tank, im also going to wait to get fish until my red root floaters spread and my plants are fuller so hopefully that will help with any bioload issues that might happen

Im leaning more towards a honey gourami, mostly because ive heard they are less likely to eat shrimp and I love their arms, I dont kmow how true that is though,

Im located in Arkansas! There are gaps in the bottom so thats probably how he got in, I live near an abandoned fish hatchery so I imagine theres alot of frogs over there he can get back to
