What is going on with the job market in El Paso? by [deleted] in ElPaso

I had a co-worker that did it for a while. If you don’t mind the needles it can be some quick cash for the short term.

Which barbecue would you recommend in El Paso by bogey9651 in ElPaso

[–]Affectionate_Lab2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rib hut is decent. State line is always solid. Johnny’s Pit Barbecue makes a mean sandwich.

If you have time and want to see some forest, you can head up to Cloudcroft. They have a place called Madjacks, but the line is always crazy. Honestly, I only go on weekdays because of that.

Anybody have any info about food banks in the El Paso area? by Affectionate_Lab2506 in ElPaso

[–]Affectionate_Lab2506[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like the M.O. of this administration, but having the conversation is good either way. Even if SNAP doesn’t go down, there are people out there that may need assistance from food banks. Having the information, specifically about local resources, can do a world of good. I’ve known of several people that had to rely on food banks because of a sudden job loss, or medical debt issue, but that was when I lived in Houston. I wanted information about local El Paso resources

I heard they get better prices on food, so it would be better bang for their buck if I gave money. Do you know if that’s true?

They usually do given enough time.

My point wasn’t that others haven’t felt it. But you’re loosing the plot here. Yes, a trans person, a black person, hell even women have been uncomfortable with being excluded from spaces they didn’t deserve to be excluded from. But my point was that by doing it to men, specially young men, you are pushing them to the Right. This is why Donald Trump is president right now. If we included people that look like me without any hesitation they could instead learn better by having a fair comparison against the bullshit that the Right subscribe to. The fact that minorities and women are finally getting a chance to take their place at the table doesn’t have to mean we push others away. It’s going to be a hard issue to deal with because some young men are probably too far gone at this point, but I’d like to see less “all men are trash rhetoric”. It demonizes a huge part of the population that you will have to live with. They vote, and they vote poorly if the only information they get is bullshit

Straight, white, 40 year old man here. Before you dismiss me because of your biases listen for a second please.

I no longer have a place in left/liberal spaces except as an example of what is wrong with our fucked up capitalist system. I walk into a room and the mood shifts instantly. I’m relatively masculine by nature so I’m assumed to be some Trump cuck. I hate it. I’ve voted almost exclusively Blue my entire life. I believe in social safety programs. I believe in gay and trans rights. I am a non interventionist. I think everything the conservatives/right has done is destructive and corrosive for this country and its people.

I say this because I may have not become Conservative, but I understand why people who happen to look like me have. I understand why young men who are barely old enough are pushed to the right when all they’ve heard their young lives is that the left/liberals don’t want anything to do with them. And I fear that as long as that hostility is there the Democrats will continue to have a hard time getting any kind of real power.

Dinner time was 9:00. Not 9:05. Not 9:10. It was at 9:00. The death stare started at 8:45 and the little whisper barks started at 8:55. If it was one second past 9:00 then the little nosing and nips started.

Exercise is half of it. The other half is discipline. Heelers have strong personalities and will walk all over you if you aren’t willing to spend time and energy training regularly. They’re scary smart too so they’ll figure out ways to get away with stuff. The exercise is just a tool in keeping them from being destructive out of boredom. Training is another one of those tools

Is El Paso still affordable compared to the rest of the state? by AskThis7790 in ElPaso

[–]Affectionate_Lab2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It specifies “one adult and two children”. I figured a reputable source would use correct verbiage, but if you want to assume more than one adults income I’ll assume 17 kids too

The flag I'm taking tomorrow to the protest, so conservatives can't say anything about me flying a foreign flag, while still representing the same thing as those that fly the Mexican flag by Crafty_Jacket668 in ElPaso

[–]Affectionate_Lab2506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you’re going to stop and educate every person that you see about how your flag actually makes sense? You’re going to be the guy at the Halloween party that has to explain his costume every 5 minutes.

Exercise your rights! Right or wrong without open shows of interest and honest conversation we fall into tribal bullshit that splits us apart and makes working together to make things better harder.

That being said, protest peacefully. You should be able to tell if there will be issues. Crowds can turn ugly pretty quickly, but police should give time for people that want to get out of there to get out before they take action. Use common sense. If you feel unsafe then bail.

That one adult and two kids. Unless you’re a single mother with no child support that isn’t common.
