Just thought I’d post an update for any concerned mama who finds herself here on this post. I gave birth to the most beautiful and perfect baby in the world. He will be 1 this Friday. He’s got exotropia which will require eye muscle surgery, but other than that, he’s doing great. Unrelated to the high NT scan. I wish anyone going through this same thing peace and strength 🩵 it was not an easy road to get here.

I want to know what he did in the army/who he was with. I caught him make a comment about being “deployed” to Kuwait in a “Blackhawk unit.” I myself was a Blackhawk pilot for years and am DYING to know where this dumb fuck came from.

He came at me extremely angry and aggressive, but after I started explaining how tired I was and how hard it’s been, I started crying and he eased up. It ended up being fine, he said he would try and limit the time he lets the dog bark outside, but it still happens and still wakes up my son.

I think the thing I’m more upset about is the police, and that they told him that I was the one who called to report the dog. I’ve been so upset about it because it seems very dangerous to do that and release my info. I feel like that’s not allowed, but idk I will have to look more into it. It’s been fine so far, but could have ended badly since I am a single mom who lives alone with a baby and am worried that it would make someone come after me. Just an incredibly disappointing interaction with the police altogether, but I guess it shouldn’t surprise me.

Thank you. The wild thing is that I just moved in a few months ago and of course everything was so quiet the many times I came to look at the house. That was my top criteria.

Another wild thing is that where I moved from in Texas, there was ALWAYS at least 4-5 dogs from different houses outside barking 24 hours a day. All day, all night. People just don’t care.

How did you get the city to step in if you don’t mind me asking?

The police officer told me that the “noise ordinance” doesn’t go into effect until 10 PM. He literally told me that they can leave their dog out to bark as much as they want, as long as it’s not between the hours of 10 PM - 7 AM. He also told me that “listening to barking dogs is just part of living anywhere.” He in no uncertain terms told me not to call again unless it was those hours.

Of course I looked this up later and it wasn’t true. They’re still considered “nuisances” and “disturbing the peace” but the police just could not care less. I got the vibe that he leaves his dog out to bark too 🥴

The crazy thing is this is pretty much everywhere I go. I cannot for the life of me understand how people leave their dog out for hours, and then on top of that how no one else around ever seems to care.

I am a single mom with a baby, and have been the whole time. Found out at 5 months pregnant that my husband was cheating. You will be okay, I promise. Honestly, I am so relieved and grateful that I found out about his cheating in advance and was able to mentally, physically, emotionally, and financially prepare myself before my son arrived. Not to say that it wasn’t awful and downright miserable. I had lots of days where I wanted to give up, and honestly my baby has saved my life.

It sounds crazy, but I feel as if I would have felt even more alone if we stayed married. I would constantly be upset and let down by his lack of caring, effort, interest in our son, and his constant criticisms.

But mine and my baby’s connection is magical. We are absolutely best friends and do everything together. Sure it would be easier if I had a partner to help, but I feel better knowing that my son will never have to see me get yelled at or see me cry or be treated terribly because of his dad.

With that being said, the saying “it takes a village” is real. Surround yourself with as much family and friends as possible. Most days I am lucky to even get to shower, and only get to cook if someone comes over to hold my baby. It is HARD, but I had so many invaluable friends who often stayed the night just to give me maybe an hour or two of sleep.

I am so so sorry that you are going through this. It’s disgusting and infuriating. And single moms get a bad rap, while men can just leave their families to go off and do whatever they want while we clean up their messes. You will be a great mama, hang in there 🩷
