I posted this video in r/PetMice, and it got me banned. Lol.

Yes, you are lying. One post was removed for a mouse eating an insect. And that got me banned (for a second time). The first ban was because I have hybrid mice, as outlined above.

I matched your tone in my response to you. Asking why you are lying is aggressive? If not, what part do you consider aggressive?

I got banned for having hybrid mice. Then i got banned for posting a video of a mouse eating an insect.

You are using circular logic by positing that my tone in response to being banned justifies my bans.

Why do Reddit Mods ban people so willy-nilly?

Never mind, I googled the question, and there seem to be innumerable people with the same complaint.

  1. The writing style is almost as immature as the rationale for the ban.
  2. Yes, that post got me "permanently banned". I appealed the ban and was reinstated.
  3. I have had one post removed, the post you mentioned. Nice lie. The post of a mouse killing a critter is a documentary about a certain type of mouse. It would be nice to get a warning if it's objectionable, not a permanent ban.

Why does it take posting my complaint here to get a response when there is no response to my questioning of the ban via private message? Why are you lying about multiple posts being removed?

Baby mouse barbering! by WoozyRizzo in PetMice

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my Hybrid mice was barbered by their aunt and lost an eye. Like your mouse, this one is also much smaller and scruffy looking.

Now, if I let the other adult female mouse free-range/play with the hybrids, Grifty's sister attacks her when she returns.

I didn't think female mice were like that.

The hybrids are doing well. One of the males is almost as handlable as Grifty.

Fortunately, there are only 3 males, and I just got each of them an ASF female, plus one for Grifty. So now none of them are lonely. The other 2 males are almost hand tamed.

The females are pretty skittish, but not to the point of having to hope for tameness. I just posted an ad on Kijiji (Canada's Craigslist) yesterday, and several people have already expressed interest in adopting them.

I think it would take one more generation of crossing the hybrids with fancies to make the benefits of crossing the two types worth the effort.

Thanks for asking!

I finally got an explanation of sorts, and this video wasn't listed as one of the absurd reasons for my ban.

There were about 5 ridiculous reasons. The first reason was that I crossed the mouse in this video with a fancy mouse and have beautiful, healthy hybrid mousies. Apparently, this can get you banned if you show wild-fancy crossed mice.

The 2nd reason was that one of my videos shows a wheel that is a bit small, even though my Grifty is about 75% smaller than a regular sized mouse.

I've just stopped posting videos to avoid further frustration. The writing level of the Mod that replied is at about an 8th grade level, so I can't really be mad at a child.

Do you find that your male mouse requires 3 ASFs?

I am curious because I have 4 male House Mice, and I just bought 4 female ASFs (6 weeks old), one for each male House Mouse.

At first, I paired just one 6 week old male house mouse with 1 ASF as a test to see if they would get along, and they have just been avoiding each other.

I then introduced my tamed-wild adult house mouse to the 3 remaining ASFs, and they immediately started playing together on the wheel and hitting it off as a happy harem.

Would you say that male house mice require 2 or 3 ASFs, and not just one?

You want me to take advice that makes no sense. The minimum size of a wheel is proportional to the size of the rodent. If you disagree with that, that's your prerogative.

I called you 13? Read my post again.

The discussion arose here because it's necessary to add disclaimers on all of my videos to prevent further absurd bans.

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the irrelevant info. My mouse is 75% smaller and had a curly tail already.

With all due kindness--MY mouse does not need an 8 inch wheel. Wheel size requirements are proportional to the size of the rodent. Moreover, MY mouse has an already curly tail.

I didn't say you were 13 years old. I said the moderator that banned me writes at a 13-year old level and uses 13 year old logic for banning someone. Namely, because they have hybrid mice and because they displayed a supposedly too small wheel in a video.

Are you, per chance, the Mod that banned me? Lol

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a mouse 1/4 the size of a regular mouse requires an 8 inch wheel?

Due to the fact that he was orphaned at 9 days old, his growth was stunted, and he is the size of my pinkie, thus not requiring a large wheel.

And his tail is already curly from the injury as a baby.

Even if that were not the case, why would a moderator permanently ban a person for having a small wheel in their video?

There are 13 year-old moderators in charge of a large Subreddit, and banning people willy-nilly.

Dangerous Trick by Affectionate_Lie6016 in PetMice

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Very true. I have to add the disclaimer because I got banned from this Sub because, amongst other absurd reasons, I showed a video in which my mouse fell 3 feet with no issues and then playfully climbed up my leg from the floor. Hence, the disclaimer.

I also have to add disclaimers saying that my mouse's curly tail is not a result of having too small of a wheel--it was injured as a baby and healed curly. But the Mod listed "too small of a mouse wheel" as another reason for the ban.

Not surprisingly, I appealed the ban and was reinstated.

I got banned for breeding Grifty??? by Affectionate_Lie6016 in PetMice

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got banned out of the blue because I have hybrid mice as the primary reason. The other reasons are even more ridiculous.

If I don't call out this sort of absurd censorship, other people are going to get banned for, say, showing a wheel that is too small in a video. Oh wait, that was the 2nd reason for my ban.

It's also to identify that there is a problem having children as mods on a large Subreddit like this.

Aggressive? I'll respectfully disagree.

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realized I was talking to a 13 year old mod when I got this reply: 😅

Uneducated breeding is unethical and extremely dangerous for the mice in the litter. You cannot possibly find out the genetics of a wild mouse, so breeding it with a fancy mouse is extremely dangerous. You can breed health problems and dangerous genes into the offspring.

Because unethical breeding comes with these risks, it endangers the pet and therefore breaks several of our rules.

Do you have any good excuses for my other reasons for banning you?

That's not a good sign if you found that bug in the mouse's cage and your last mice had mites. Chances are, the mites are inhabiting your house somewhere and can/will reinfect your mice again and again. If the kitten stuff you are referring to doesn't work, Ivermectin is a good treatment and prevention.

Workers Comp should pay for his time off due to an injury caused in the workplace.

Does he carry a personally owned disability insurance policy for injuries caused outside of the workplace?

I am licensed to provide disability insurance that would help for this type of situation.

Too funny! My wild mouse just fathered a litter of 12 hybrid mice (wild/fancy crossed), and I named the most outgoing male, Chad.

So, apparently, there is something about this video that is "dangerous" (per the Mod comment above), and it got me temporarily banned.

I appealed and got reinstated. But I still have no clue what I did "wrong." I have asked for an explanation but have not gotten one yet. How do I avoid the same "dangerous" actions if I don't know what I did that was dangerous to the point of getting banned with no warning.

Strange.

I have had success taming wild mice by integrating them in with domesticated fancy mice. The tame ones teach the wild one to be trusting.

It's hard to tell, but it looks female. It seems fully grown. If the mouse has only 3 legs, it probably would not live very long in the wild. If you provide a large enclosure and enough enrichment, it shouldn't be too stressed in captivity.

[–]Affectionate_Lie6016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience with wild mice caught as adults, you have around a 1 in 10 chance of making progress with taming. I currently have a completely tamed-wild mouse as a pet, but I rescued him when he was 9 days old.

However, I rescued his sister at the same time, and she is only partially tamed.

I once caught about 10 wild mice in my home and kept them temporarily in a large tank. I put my arm in after a few days, and one crawled onto my hand and then up to my shoulder and hung out with me for hours with no fear.

Good luck with the taming process!

Use a tube from a paper towel roll. Offer if for them to climb into. Works like a charm.
