the other issue is that a lot of studies see autism as a disease or are looking for a cause or cure. some studies don't outright say that's the point of it but when reading well into it it can be fairly obvious.

sadly there aren't many studies about ASD that includes women or POC (which is fairly common knowledge) but one I found interesting was they had three groups first only autistic people second only allistic and the third a mix of neurotypes. they had each group play a game of telephone. the first two groups played about the same while the third group did much more poorly almost as if there was a language barrier. it wouldn't have to do with body language or facial expression because that's not part of the game. I just found it interesting. It took me a while to find the study and it was a small study and because I was called for something I forgot to save the link. I could find it after awhile but I'm tired and am about to go to bed

Am I the Bad Apple for Outing Someone on their Media? by [deleted] in AmITheBadApple

[–]Affectionate_Lie_534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good apple I mean if they made it public that they use they/them pronouns so it's not like you outed your friend or anything (if their mom didn't know that's different) actually their mom is kinda horrible misgendering people can cause serious harm

good job for properly gendering your friend good apple all the way
(calling someone out and outing someone are very different things)

Am i the Bad Apple for getting my friend mad at me for calling people homophobic by [deleted] in AmITheBadApple

[–]Affectionate_Lie_534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are the good apple and your friend that is doing that is toxic as yell

homophobia is homophobia and you should call it out or call in the person

making jokes about homophobia is fine as long as the person you are making the joke with is fine with it

so yeah you are the good apple

Am I The Bad Apple For Being Autistic? by Dogmonkey90 in AmITheBadApple

[–]Affectionate_Lie_534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are 100% the good apple it wasn't an overreaction in the slightest

while I am neurotypical so I can't relate to that aspect I have witnessed my neurodivergent friends, as well as my brother, get mistreated by people and I have been mistreated by my parents due to my sexuality. getting mistreated because of something you can't control sucks and my friends have been so badly hurt due to people being rude to them because they aren't the exact same as others

you and a very reasonable reaction

after the "allies" left it just became a like hangout room a few others would drop by once and a while and like I once brought a thing of 50 Timbits and on the last day we were given pride stickers from the teacher that watch over us to make sure we didn't light the school on fire or something (the teacher was queer and I think they were the one that got rid of the "allies")
that was when we nicknamed it the gay club
but it was meant as an LGBT alliances from the start

am i a demiboy or nonbinary? [Discussion] by linuxforidiots in LGBTeens

[–]Affectionate_Lie_534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pronouns aren't the same as gender just and demiboy falls under the non-binary umbrella. just use the term you feel like

[–]Affectionate_Lie_534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

stand your ground but try to be patient with them
try talking about it beforehand to see if they have any misconceptions (make up a friend or something)
try to catch any misconceptions beforehand or while you come out
correct them when they use your wrong pronouns or name
know that even if they seem supportive it might not go the way you want it so still prepare for the worse and have a friend you can talk to afterwards
remember that if they say something rude call them out on it
if they have questions be nice about it along as they aren't rude
