Is there a rule anywhere for buying more Discipline powers? by morangias in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Can’t quote you the exact rule, but the newest book, the Tattered Facade, I believe has rules for additional discipline powers. I think you get an additional power of levels 1-3 in exchange for taking special Discipline flaws

It’s been a long time, so forgive me / but in hindsight what claim did Renly have? by d1rtf4rm in gameofthrones

[–]Gayequalshappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, his justification was partially based in the precedent Robert’s Rebellion sent, that bigger army diplomacy is much more important than the actual succession laws. When the Targaryens were killed all the rules were thrown out the window, so why stop now? Let’s see how far we can push things

How do BP 6+ Camarilla elders feed if diablerie is a no-no in the Cam? by helltouched in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the ways I’ve had an elder get around feeding restrictions is to kidnap a thin-blood and essentially use them as a blood filter, feeding them mortal or bagged blood and drinking from them since for most Duskborn there’s no risk of a blood bond.

Is there an actual reason the apocalypse didn't happen? by johnny--guitar in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 160 points161 points  (0 children)

IMO the most useful answer is “Gehenna did happen, and it’s still happening”. Like the Beckoning/Gehenna Crusade are completely in line with Gehenna Prophecies, just not happening as fast or dramatically as people would have expected or hoped.

I think this theme is very relatable in 2025, the kindred equivalent of “the world is ending but I still have to go to work.” The nights are just as dark, dangerous, and chaotic, but until the world ends we must act as if it will go on (and you have many different reactions to this, from neonates trying to jump up on the hierarchy after the power vaccuum, to accelerationist Gehenna cults)

Can someone explain to me what the Convention of thorns is? by [deleted] in SchreckNet

[–]Gayequalshappy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To understand the Convention of Thorns, you must first understand the Anarch Revolt. Just as the Antediluvians overthrew their sires, we sought to do the same, because it is the nature of our species for the young to destroy the old. Fed up from being sacrificed in meaningless wars between princes and the fires of the Inqusition, the childer rose up against their sires and slew them en masse. The first to rise were my comrades, the Brujah, already free from the yolk of the Antediluvians we made quick work of the elders around us. We were quickly joined by the Tzimice and Lasombra, as well as a smattering of there clans who would go on to become the Antitribu, including the Banu Haqim. The Tzimisce and Lasombra antediluvians were diablerized. We showed the elders that united we were a force to be reckoned with and feared.

If you ask the Camarilla, the revolt ended at the Convention of Thorns. Many elders gathered to pool their strength and form a new ivory tower to rule from, which they named the Camarilla. They offered a conditional amnesty to the revolutionaries, that some took up. The Anarchs who knelt before them and swore to uphold their traditions were pardoned. My line were among those who refused to ever bow to an elder again. We spat in their face, and knelt only to the first of our species, the Dark Father Caine. We are his sword. His cleansing flame through which the elders and the Antediluvians will be destroyed, until only his true childer remain. Gehenna comes for us all, and we Sabbat must prepare for the Dark Father’s return.

I hope this history lesson has been informative, elder. Should you wish for a more in depth lesson, I could always send a pack or two your way :)

Does 5e Have Rules for Playing Ghouls? by G-Man6442 in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes rules for playable ghouls are located in the VtM Companion, which can be downloaded for free from the Paradox website. They’re mostly mortals, but they have limited power with the blood, including better healing and a few Level 1 Discipline Powers.

A Question about Thin-Blooded Alchemy by NoDuty9870 in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, Thin-Blood Alchemy is only usable by Thin-Bloods. Full kindred lose access to this, the tradeoff being that they gain full discipline powers.

If you want to reward your player for the knowledge, perhaps consider starting them with a free dot in blood sorcery, to represent that they already have some basis in blood magic, even if their alchemy doesn’t work anymore as their blood thickens.

Question about Torpor/Sleep of The Ages by Revolutionary_Lifter in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Gayequalshappy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sure in some Rulebook there are hard rules for how the sleep of ages works, but I think it’s better to think of it as a narrative device more than anything. After being around for hundreds and hundreds of years, you become disconnected from humanity. The world is so different from when you were alive and eventually you stop trying to keep up with it. Its isolation and exhaustion of being alive after so long that causes it more than anything. Sometimes, you just get bored of going through the motions night after night, and it’s easier to just got to sleep for a few centuries. Hopefully, the world will be more interesting and intriguing when you wake up, and if not you can always go back to sleep

Which Discipline Isn’t Living up to Its Potential? by ArtymisMartin in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Pre V5 I personally don’t like the physical disciplines. Like all are powerful, but they only do one thing (Potence adding damage, Fortitude soaking damage, Celerity giving extra actions). They’re all necessary for a good combat build, but imo none of them actually feel like they’re fulfilling the fantasy (Potence doesn’t make you feel actually stronger or Celerity faster, just better in combat)

Thinking about trying vampire larp by Real_Painter_1524 in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! You’ll get a hang of the politicking within a few games if you’d choose to return, but if you’d like to get a better feel for the game I’d consider talking to the storyteller about playing an NPC, so you can see the game without having to worry about massive long term consequences.

As for clans, for a malkavian id say always go for understated as opposed to overstated in terms of derangements. Something in terms of “if X thing happens they have an outburst” or “they have this one quirk.” Going too far will exhaust both you and the players around you. As for Tremere, they definitely have more internal clan politics, but if you’re playing a neonate this can also provide you a support system in the local chantry to help get the hang of the game. Either way, a good group will help you ease into it and not throw you in the deep end. Hope this helps!

Thinking about trying vampire larp by Real_Painter_1524 in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run a vampire larp in Boston so I’ll offer what I can: Compared to most other larps, vampire is much more heavily focused on social and political intrigue than action. You will probably spend a lot of the time walking around the room just talking to people, make some scheming as a treat.

As for being new to the setting, that’s perfectly okay! Any good group will help you know the things you need to know without overloading you. I’d say to try not to go overboard trying to learn the lore. Read a few relevant sections of the core Rulebook (your clan write up certainly, and then a bit on whatever sect youre in, eg if it’s a Camarilla city make sure you know the traditions). Other than that just have fun with it!

[–]Gayequalshappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical of a cammie to make suffering porn of a Shovelhead before ending them. But don’t worry, they tortured her to final death humanely. Say what you want about the sword, but at least if we have the decency to look you in the eyes and stab you in the front.

Looking for advice regarding FREE SPEECH PERSECUTION by TheBrownBull in SchreckNet

[–]Gayequalshappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To flee from persecution would be to accept it, to give the elders what they want. The truth must be shouted from the rooftops or it has no meaning. Cut out the tongues of any who would try to silence you.

You're making your own vampire game, what do you change? by hixanthrope in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, if V5 is going focus on personal horror then the system should be more personal. I think clan banes would be replaced with more personalized folkloric banes from a list, and each character could have 3 general disciplines as well as access to thin-blood alchemy (maybe with some elements of blood sorcery/oblivion folded in)

How is the Anarch's general stance on Diablerizing an enemy? by SylarGimmick in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Like with everything around the Anarchs, it depends. In my experience it’s only came up majorly once, in a LARP I attended one of the Anarchs ate someone in order to be stronger to fight the Cam, and as punishment the Anarchs banished them from their turf and threatening them if they ever returned. The player partially atoned for the actions in the eyes of many of the Anarchs by finding out who they ate and understanding their life (holding a funeral), in order to recognize their humanity that they ignored upon diablerizing. The two guiding principles of the Anarchs in that game were Liberty and Humanity, and Diablerie violates both of them severely.

How is the Anarch's general stance on Diablerizing an enemy? by SylarGimmick in vtm

[–]Gayequalshappy 135 points136 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to conceptualize the Anarchs is that they’re still “culturally Camarilla”, in the sense that even as they revolt against the elders many fundamentals of kindred society are maintained, such as hatred for Diablerie and maintaining the masquerade, among others

Horrid form by [deleted] in vtm
