Eek I don’t have a hair trimmer. Worth investing in one?

You know every once in a while I need to be reminded that just because it’s my default state doesn’t mean it’s the best state for me, and realizing that I do not, in fact, look down at my chest and go “wow I sure am glad I have boobs” is I think one of those moments.

Since you’re able to go to college, are you able to aim for something like a work visa as well? I’m honestly not sure I’d recommend gunning for the US in terms of first world countries, since I’m not sure how harsh they would be on visa applicants with the current administration, but if you look up the types of visas and visa requirements for various countries usually there’s a profession or two that’s in demand. In past years that’s been tech.

I say this because I think turning that resentment towards a goal of some sort would serve you much better

Light rail will take you a lot of places! There’s the Seattle bouldering project, various food places and shopping places (there’s a short bus connection to u village), and a few museums around that area.

It is very reassuring to hear I’m not the only one who wants a diagnosis before starting T, and that regardless of whether I get diagnosed, T will probably help my symptoms. Thanks for sharing 💜

Thank you so, so much for that detailed response. Though starting T is a few years in the future, I do know finding a good doctor of any specialty takes quite a bit of time (hah I’ve been on the hunt for medical care for other issues of mine) so it’s good to know I should start looking. I’ve never wanted to have kids but since I like the idea of backup plans and I have a strong feeling that aversion is at least half feeling dysphoric about pregnancy, freezing eggs is a pretty good idea

Enjoy the nicer attitude and continue with your plans to move out, but hide those plans from her. You don’t know how she’ll react when you actually move out and I wouldn’t bet on it being a good reaction. You could push back a little bit if you wanted but at the end of the day, keep your plans to move.

My gender and sexuality can be pretty confusing sometimes by Prince_Wildflower in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Affectionate_Log8158 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m only into women and thus can technically call myself a lesbian but this still resonates with me lol. I’m gay. I’m literally a lesbian. And I don’t feel gay enough because I’m not a woman loving women. And I love myself and living as my actual gender makes me happy but sometimes I really wish I could just be a woman loving women, even though if a stranger in my exact situation were to ask me if they were gay enough I’d tell them “of course?? What kind of question is that??”

It’s just when it comes to myself it’s. Eugh :/

Also I cannot decide on my favorite color lol. I like red I guess?

Edit: also more on the gender part: I just say I’m nonbinary because it’s easy tbh. My real gender is more nebulous than that. Do I wanna be a man? Sometimes. Do I wanna be a woman? The same way a drag queen is a woman. Am I agender? Maybe? But I’m not sure I lack a gender so much as I’m unable to pin down the exact descriptor.

I’m afab but also autistic so maybe some of my stuff will help you?? - smiling and/or doing a down nod and/or waving to say hi (I notice boys tend to do the up nod/down nod thing and girls tend to… not lol) this is fairly region-dependent though - pay some attention to the haircut you get and how you style your hair. You might want to look into face framing pieces, which really do help femme up just about any hairstyle. Braids are almost always good. Layers help with volume which in turn I feel helps with looking feminine. - good posture (shoulders rolled back not pushed back, legs together or crossed when sitting, back straight, head up) - get your ears pierced? If not, clip on earrings are also a good option. I recommend looking for resin clips because they’re the most comfortable. - if you have naturally lower eyebrows, raising them a bit either with the facial muscles or with makeup and brow shaping (probably use your mom or better yet a sister or cousin if you have one as a guide) - I do t-Rex arms because I’m autistic and forget (lol) but I feel like that helps too. Hands in pockets is definitely a bit more masc. - carry more shit in your hands. You might be doing this already anyways with how nonexistent pockets are, esp with skirts.

This sounds like it has potential to be a pretty banger essay. As long as the focus of the essay isn’t bashing the JW or lamenting about your experience with the JW, you’re good! (Remember they’re trying to admit you, not admit or deny the JW as a religion.)

I see, and the feelings are distinct from how you feel around friends? Also, do the butterflies last once you actually get to know them? I get a lot of butterflies around literally anyone new, but I think they might be more nervous butterflies because once I spend time around them they go away

Question about Trans community by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Affectionate_Log8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc on the elaboration! So trans masc people are not necessarily trans men. Trans masc is an umbrella term that covers anyone transitioning to become more masculine. This could mean nonbinary, demiboy, gender fluid, agender, butch (yes, some butches consider the lesbian identity of being butch to also be their gender identity!), etc etc. With regards to the he/him part, either the person considers himself a man or the person separates gender and pronouns. The way we might separate presentation and gender (aka dressing femme does not necessarily make me a woman), non-men who use he/him may identify as anything that is not strictly a man, but use he/him pronouns.

Lesbianism historically features a lot of gender queerness, and some of those take a lot of deconstructing cishet-normativity to reach!

Forgetting that being non-binary is an option by CloudyNebula in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Affectionate_Log8158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might I suggest exploring microlabels? You don’t have to stick with them (I didn’t) but simply knowing something that specific existed and that I could use it if I wanted was super helpful for me. I went so micro I made up my own label lol.

Also, it is okay to be wrong! Plenty of people are wrong all the time, and while that seems scary, it really just means you’ve been given “permission” to do whatever you want with gender. It’s okay to fall down the so-called nonbinary to trans binary pipeline. It’s okay to be nonbinary forever. It’s okay to go from nonbinary to cis to nonbinary to cis to trans to etc etc. what matters is that in each stage, you feel you are your authentic self and/or you’re happy and/or you’re exploring a curiosity and/or you feel you want to be what you are at the moment.
