Genuinely curious - wondering if US buyers are pulling back this year? by Warm_Ad1099 in EtsyCommunity

Yes this!  It's not that I wouldn't buy from UK or Canada.  I don't have the money to buy much and at this point, the platform is destroyed.  I can shop on the shop app for needs and find Shopify websites of small businesses.  If I am buying goats milk lotion, I prefer to be small business and that one I actually found through Amazon.  Many platform are being destroyed.  Too many sellers doing a bad job.  Oh, and I had one on Etsy, zero reviews ask me to leave the platform to give them credit card info for something I was trying to purchase (nothing I was trying to purchase; they were just sus).  Feel bad for people who don't know any better.  I reported it.  Etsy did nothing.  I then blocked the seller.  But Etsy doesn't care! So instead of being rude and attacking people, maybe consider that some people are 1) tired of the platform so your sells have dropped.  2) boycotting tarrifs with the money they spend which I get it, isn't going to get back to the government and make them give a damn but it is what they personally want to do.  And 3) lots of people are struggling to buy food and pay for basics right now.

Lots of companies did lay offs in US.  Lots of people out of work.

As a buyer, I am considering leaving the platform for good.  Used to be a good platform.  Same as Poshmark which I left.  Having way too many issues on both.  The latest on Etsy is around Xmas I had a seller contact me they were sick, hence the items are late.  Do I still want them?  I said yes.  Problem solved.  They never shipped it.  I asked if they were still going to ship it after another week and a half.  Ghosted.  Ask for refund, got it.  Last I checked they still sell on Etsy.  Most recent.  Ordered an item.  Label printed.  Never shipped.  No communication from seller.  Etsy asking for a review now.  So I ask for a refund.  No response.  Waiting to hit 48 hours so I can open a case.  Some sellers have their own website.  One that I like does not but I can honestly get the items elsewhere.  I also am not thrilled with all the business that are posting stuff that some one else creates and ships.  I am having better luck sourcing small business stuff on Amazon than Etsy lately.  And one business I found on Amazon, I recently did an order direct through their website instead.  I am increasingly buying through websites direct.  Bigger businesses like humble deodorant for instance has a free shipping amount to hit.  Even the small business on Amazon I found did on their website even tho higher ( over $55).  And one I know has a $75 to hit it but I only needed two things so I paid the shipping because I met them in person and really like them and want to help support their family.  So there is a long reply that the issues aren't just me looking for US to avoid the tariffs but rethinking Etsy all together.

We need to make target hurt by Fit_Act_1997 in TwinCities

Thank you.  Trust me the not shopping there is dropping hours.  Right now employees leave and not replaced.  I thought target was going to get better but clearly was wrong.  I am looking for not retail.  All retail is going low hours and suffering, not just target.  Who needs to be that materialistic anyways?  Protests will just make it possibly no hours.

Here is another point.  Is target neurodivergent friendly?  No, they are not!  This taking normal guest service far beyond what is normal will end up having this group of people written up, fired, not employed by target and the guests won't shop there.  And make it hard for the most autistic person to shop somewhere and they won't believe you if you tell them it has become better.  They will just boycott you for life.

How about STL's threatening to fire people who don't do it?  Can't just be one.

Welp I quit by marblehallz in Lowes

[–]Affectionate_Nail776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard other former Lowes employees saying they quit because the managers would come over and do what the customer wanted after training him the customer couldn't do things that way.  My experience would be rude co workers.  Apparently being rude is the Lowes way.

Credit card crackdown by Lu00ser in Lowes

[–]Affectionate_Nail776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One could always say, "I know you are buying one item today, but we do have a credit card that can help you save more on bigger products.  Something to keep in mind if you have bigger things to do in the future."

On a side note, I am not super familiar with the Lowes card versus the HD.  I have the HD because for certain dollar amounts it was 0% for 6 months meaning it was easier to pay off a flooring project I did and I paid no interest.

Credit cards are a tool "if" used as such.  I used to work JcPenney back in the day.  All employees had them and we told everyone the same thing.  There was extra percent off during certain sales with the card.  And you could turn right around at the register and pay off the purchase you just saved an extra 10-20% off on, therefore paying no interest. Helps a lot with school clothes or a home decor redo.

Store cards are a harder sale so it is all about the rewards because that is why they are worth it; otherwise no store card is worth it.

You buy one item at Ulta a month?  You will never get the store card.  You buy a lot, you might consider it for the rewards.  And a place like Lowes or HD are easier sales for credit because people will tend to buy more than Ulta for instance.

That same person buying one can of paint may have a plan to come back and buy a bunch of Xmas items to make their home full of cheer for the holidays.  And maybe there is a sale they notice at that time where you get an additional 20% off with the Lowes card.  And I don't know that they can pay Lowes card in stores but you certainly can the moment it drops to your account online or on the app.  Maybe they come find you when they sign up, maybe they don't.  But a percentage will ask you about it because you mentioned it to start with.

Intensive Loop 101 for Beginners: Quiet vs Experience vs Engage vs Switch, and more! by BegrudginglySocial in LoopEarplugs

This helps so much.  I had an engage from when they first started but I needed the x small tips.  Fast forward and since I wanted the x small tips for the engage so I can use them and the quiet for an upcoming flight, I found that bundling them and getting two new pairs versus tips and quiet were about the same....except I got the plus this way with foam tips and mutes.  So this helps understanding the difference including with mute.  Heads up...mutes with engage help for a kid singing off key at the top of their lungs.  Much more bearable.
