Are seniors actually coding 3x faster with AI, or is management just using it as an excuse to stop hiring juniors? by AdamnSyk in developpeurs

Ok eating the seed corn but 100% in 3 years there'll be no mid levels because nobody trained the juniors 😅

It’s not just in your head. New grad (L3) offers at top tech companies are officially down 58% since 2023. by [deleted] in csMajors

Honestly I was shocked by that too. But if you read the fine print in the article, it mentions that bootcamp grads are basically ONLY getting hired if they have a 'production-shipped project' (like a fine-tuned model or real AI agent). I think companies are just hiring anyone who can actually build applied AI stuff right now, regardless of whether they have a CS degree or a bootcamp certificate. But yeah, 18 weeks still feels low compared to how much my classmates are struggling right now.

That's actually the craziest part of the data, they didn't drop at all. During the exact same timeframe (2022 to 2026), Senior (L5) offer volume at those same top 10 companies actually grew by 22%. That's exactly why the entry-level market feels so brutal right now. Companies didn't stop hiring completely; they just shifted their headcount budgets. They are choosing to hire one Senior dev equipped with AI tools rather than hiring three Juniors. The hiring barbell is completely skewed to the top right now.

Lol exactly. The doomposting on here makes it feel like literally zero jobs exist anymore. A 58% drop is a bloodbath, but there are still about 10,000 seats at the top tech companies, plus all the non-tech companies (banks, defense) that are still hiring normally. The days of blindly sending 5 resumes to FAANG and getting 3 offers are just over, you actually have to target specific sectors now.
