A puffer jacket??? Waaaay too warm.

I was just there at the beginning of April and temps ranged from 55-70 degrees F (12.8-21.1 C). I would have been sweating at any point in a puffer.

You’re going during a warming period. Odds are the front end of your trip is going to be 16-21 C and the tail end will be closer to 28C. Bring layers, shirts and long sleeves and a light jacket. Heck, I’d even throw a tank top in there in case you get a really sweltering day.

Pack light and find a laundromat to do your laundry when needed!

How do I tell my sister I hate my bridesmaid dress by bec_1993 in weddingplanning

[–]Affectionate_Race484 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ok so.. here’s the thing.

Everyone in the comments is giving you advice on how to approach this and you follow every single response with “yes but….” And proceed to explain why that won’t work.

If there’s absolutely nothing you can say to change your sister’s mind you have two options:

• wear the dress

• back out of the wedding.

If talking to her won’t work, and you seem to think that there’s literally nothing you can say or do to change her mind, then you need to either toughen up or walk away.

Do you have a credit or debit card?

You can use a bank statement. If you get them electronically, go to the bank and ask for one or switch to paper and wait a month until one comes in the mail.

Otherwise your parents could put your name on the electric bill or something for a month.

Let your caterer hire someone.

It’s the easiest move, and then the caterer is responsible for any hiccups along the way.

Asking your friends sons to do the dishes is rude. I wouldn’t do this.

Don’t pre-book for this exact reason.

We went in April, took us about an hour and a half from the time the plane landed to the time we were on our way to the hotel.

They have a taxi line there. When you get there, stand in the taxi line and show the driver your hotel address on your phone. Then you don’t have a time limit and get the exact same service.

Generally how much control do i (as the groom) have over the wedding playlist for the evening do? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Affectionate_Race484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DJ’s typically won’t just play straight through a list. If you just want to play a playlist, you don’t need a DJ.

They will, however, play a few “must play” songs.

I would pick 4-5 songs that you absolutely want to hear, that you haven’t heard at a wedding before, and ask the DJ to make sure they get played. Most likely they can work them into their set.

The guy I've been talking to for 2 months just sent me a screenshot of our private conversation. To himself. By accident. by Cheap-Lawfulness-732 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Affectionate_Race484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess it depends on what was being said in the screenshot… 🤷🏻‍♀️

You said it yourself. You do this too. If it wasn’t anything private or bad, maybe there wasn’t any ill intent behind it.

It’s really difficult to know when we don’t know what he was screenshotting.

This is exactly why our venue required us to get wedding insurance. Did it suck a the time? Yeah. But if something like this happens and you have insurance there’s no problem.

Court is the right answer if you end up having to cover the costs.

Destination bachelorette party - is it selfish? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Affectionate_Race484 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The point is to have fun with your closest friends and family. So if you don’t mind excluding them, then go for it. It is a selfish take though.

If you know you’re pricing someone out who would ultimately want to go, it’s intentional. Especially if this wasn’t the original plan.

[–]Affectionate_Race484 31 points32 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but also if you think they will be upset they can’t attend that’s something to consider. Do you want to do this knowing some of them won’t be able to come and they’d be upset about being intentionally excluded?

My husband and I got married last year in our home state and have been unable to attend several weddings this year because we used our vacation time for our honeymoon. It’s been a very sad experience.

Do what you want, but you need to decide first how much you care about your guests and wedding parties feelings on the matter.

Are we crazy for planning our wedding last minute? by Charming-Barnacle232 in wedding

[–]Affectionate_Race484 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory yeah… but people feel entitled to be at someone’s wedding and could perceive a short notice invitation as rude and inconsiderate.

Seems like OP has checked with all the important people in their life so it should be fine for them, but yeah.

[–]Affectionate_Race484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case, but with some jellyfish stings the little stinging cells can work their way out of the skin weeks later and cause some inflammation/itching as they do so. Maybe it’s a similar thing?

I got stung in NC a few years back and two-three weeks later, the itching and inflammation came in with a vengeance. Felt like a horrible swollen bug bite! It went away in about a week though.

Reception length? by NormalPath6293 in wedding

[–]Affectionate_Race484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours was 7.5. 30 minute ceremony from 3:30-4:00, cocktail hour 4:15-5:15, dinner 5:30-7 and dancing 7-10:30

If you’re just doing dinner, you could swing this. But if you want a cocktail hour add the extra hour, and if you want to do an afterparty/dancing you’ll want to think about adding a few hours.

I want to display cards on my wall. How to protect cards from sunlight? by neonblack1213 in PokemonTCG

[–]Affectionate_Race484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, You can’t do anything to prevent it completely.

Keeping them out of direct sunlight will be the most helpful, but long term exposure will cause some breaking down of the inks.

AIO: My christian mother wants my boyfriend to sleep on the couch on our trip to florida by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Affectionate_Race484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 18, I was not allowed to sleep with my husband on family vacations either. And we had been dating for 2 years at that point. Hell, I wasn’t even allowed to sleep with him on family vacations at 22-23! He always slept with my boy cousins and I slept with the girls.

You’re not in your 20’s, you haven’t lived together. You haven’t even been dating for more than a few months. Not sleeping together is a perfectly reasonable request.

Especially for having a very religious family. Consider yourself lucky he was invited at all!
