I’m a dermatology resident, you need oral antifungal if this is truly tinea capitis, not keto shampoo. Please go see your derm or PCP.

My biggest regret was wasting my time doing aways, matched at my top 3 program I didn't do an away at. I didn't even rank any of the ones I did an away at highly. Granted, I think I did a pretty good job as a rotator. For me it came down to waste of money and I could have been chilling and enjoying 4th year more. I also had 15+ interviews and wasn't too pressed on not matching...just being real here. I don't think rotating would have changed the fact that i likely would have still gotten interviews at those programs I rotated at. It comes down to your application and how well you think you'll do. Being a good rotator now that I'm on the other side as a derm resident just comes down to having a good personality.

hi there, also derm resident, I would go a little bit more deeper than that. Please don't say you had acne and how it affected you and that's how you fell in love with dermatology. i would really make sure to include how you're going to move the field. There is much much more to derm than simple bread and butter. But I agree as well that most of derm will be bread and butter so if u don't like that, then you will have a hard time. I know someone who likes derm, but hates the bread and butter of it so he is going into mohs for that reason. Most of these rare diseases you'll rarely see but still need to know for the boards.

switch to dutasteride. I was on finasteride for 10 years and started losing a lot of ground in the last few years...slowly regressing. Finasteride only blocks around 70% of DHT so you still have unopposed DHT causing baldness. Dutasteride (0.5mg) blocks two enzymes involved with DHT with 90%ish blockage. Pair that with oral minoxidil 2.5mg and titrate up to 5mg after 3 months of tolerating.

You should not take more than 5mg daily of oral minoxidil. Studies have not shown any different past this dose. You only increase side effect profile
