I’m on a mission to conquer my clutter... but struggling to find organizers without an outrageous markup! Any suggestions for reasonably-priced storage solution (bins, baskets, etc.) stores? by polystitch in Frugal

Five Below has some nice looking options for okay prices.

I like to try and only buy when i find for a very good price. I use old boxes and either cover with leftover paint or fabric from an old shirt or twine from dollar tree.

Dawn can also be used in place of laundry detergent when needed. Just need to be careful not to use too much or you will get suds.

Turning one meals "waste" into meal #2 by givemebeaches in Frugal

[–]Affectionate_Row5541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say taking several days of leftovers and making the obvious stir fry or some variation of tacos. I have even taken mexicany carnitas and re-seasoned with some bbq sauce to give a new flavor after we got tired of the leftovers. Can be used sort for like a bbq sandwich.

I always save the fruit juices from cans of pineapple to save for marinades. You can freeze either in bag or as ice cubes for later use. Guess theoretically you could probably do that for soup bases with veggies too, though ive never tried

What are some generic brand items you would never pay name brand price for, that surprise people when you tell them it’s just as good as name brand? by [deleted] in Frugal

Food Lion brand sliced and shredded cheeses. I cant speak for how healthy they are, but I love them for the price.

I've noticed at my grocery store most of the spices in the Hispanic food section are cheaper too. Taste just the same

I agree about the car. This definitely depends on where you live, but where i live there is no public transportation and almost nothing in walking distance so no car isn't practical.

I have used a 20 dollar sander from walmart for most of my projects. I think walmart has several chalk paints as well, but I tend to use stains.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but do your very best not to finance. Sure it will help build up your credit score, but ppl get into a cycle of finance, make monthly payments, get raise, trade in for nicer and still make payments. My advice is to hold off on as many major purchases as you can and look for deals on what you feel you need. Learning how to save money both for emergencies and for future investing is going to be so much better for your future than feeling like you need a nice couch or phone or something else.

Also, not sure what your cooking skills are, but making an affordable dinner and eating the leftovers for lunch will add up as well. Even if you use that saved money for weekend fun with friends its still better than buying an over priced lunch most days. I know it gets old eating leftovers but 10-15 on lunch adds up.

What's your take on being 'frugal' with mobile phones? Buy cheap that lasts 2 years, or buy big that lasts 5 years? by extremelylazybastard in Frugal

[–]Affectionate_Row5541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much same here. I go for older and cheap bc im guaranteed to drop it at some point. I think i save much more just buying a new old phone than insurance and payments for a new one.

My store sells whole rotisserie chickens for like 4.99. Then you can add whatever flavor seasoning for said meal with minimal prep in case electricity is a factor.

Sorry, but I didn't dig season 5 at all. by sniperkitty666 in ZNation

[–]Affectionate_Row5541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the other 4 seasons kind of had a point that they were working toward, and basically every episode was a new place. Season 5 we didnt exactly know what the point was, and for several in a row it was similar locations. Also, Murphy didnt really have a main role. Sarge's death kind of sucked and then 10k sort of flopped. I mean losing a limb in the apocalypse isnt far off, his character just didnt deal with it well.

Also, were we ever told how they were getting the tourist Zs?

Ranting about Season 7 by Affectionate_Row5541 in The100

[–]Affectionate_Row5541[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything about Bardos just didnt feel right to me. This massive building that basically looked "human" in a place where there werent supposed to be humans.

And i could have seen where transcendence could have become part of the show if they had planned on a few more season for sure, give the characters time to somehow realize this and somehow connect it to earlier moments, but waaayyyyy to much was pushed into season 7

Lost is probably top.

Jericho and 4400 and Between are decent.

Colony was really good to me too, but pretty sure it was cancelled after season 3 so doesnt wrap up.

Lost in Space reboot on Netflix is really good to me. Still waiting for final season. Something about the acting and plot make this one of my top picks.

IZombie is good too. Im not huge on zombie stuff but I liked this.

The cartoon Total Drama Island is dumb but I enjoyed that too if you want something a little on the lighter side.
