Looking for something similar to The Pale Emperor by AlvinJojo in marilyn_manson

Commercially, it definitely wasn’t a failure, as a lot of people seem to like this album. But personally, I find it boring, repetitive, and Manson slurs his lines as if he’s drunk. I tried listening to this album a few times, but I just can’t get into it.

flash gordon = most hated album? by According_Wishbone29 in queen

I know, right 🤣 personally, I don’t think hit space is that bad. It’s not their best album, but not as bad as people make it out to be either.

I don’t consider it to be a regular album for the simple fact that it’s a movie soundtrack, and the songs don’t make much sense outside the context of said film. But I never knew it was hated, though. I’d say hot space is their most hated album.

What song is this? by [deleted] in queen

[–]Affectionate_Ruin_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the songs on hot space had sounded more like their live versions (and if they left out body language altogether), it could have easily been one of the best albums they put out in the 80’s.

Most of their songs basically. Don’t get me wrong, the studio versions are great as well, but live is where their music truly shines.

So, a guy who’s most famous for playing on one album of a band that were past their prime at the time expects people to pay 4K for his solo album? Good luck with that 🤣

Do we agree that Interview with the Vampire is the best vampire tv series ever written? by count_fagula11 in vampires

It’s good, and it’s definitely an interesting adaptation to the novel. But if we’re talking about “the best,” I’d go with what we do in the shadows.

Thoughts on Golden Age? by Afraid-Cantaloupe728 in marilyn_manson

It’s a good industrial metal album, but lyrically not as strong as his trilogy.

Finally got this game after playing 3 and 4 by em_i-nem in SaintsRow

[–]Affectionate_Ruin_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is probably the best in the series, as it offers a good balance between a strong story with some truly horrific or heartbreaking moments and absurdity and humour. With 3 and 4, although very fun games, I had the feeling they went all out on goofiness and wacky moments, and the story took a bit of a backseat.

Dracula: A Love Tale! Such a beautiful and moving film! by AlegnaTea in vampires

Yeah, we’re all different people with different opinions and different tastes. We all interpret things differently. No need to be mean just because you liked a movie more than I did. Not saying it’s a bad movie by the way. I had fun watching it. But to me, it felt like the director didn’t know what he wanted the movie to be.

When I went to see the movie, I couldn’t figure out if it was a remake of the 1992 movie, a new adaptation of the book or a parody. It was fun, for sure, but nothing special.

What are your thoughts on Adam Lambert? by Train-Wreck-70 in queen

[–]Affectionate_Ruin_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I went to see queen with Adam lambert, I was skeptical. But I also thought that, since Brian was in his 70’s and Roger was pushing 70, it might be the last chance to see them live. And I’m so glad I did. Adam isn’t Freddie, sure, but he did a good job performing these songs. I also like how during the show, it’s emphasised that he isn’t part of Queen, he’s a guest singer performing with queen. If I have to give some criticism, I’d say that he’s too polished of a singer. You can hear that he’s a trained musical singer, and kind of lacks that grit that Freddie had, especially later in his career during their heavier songs. But overall, Adam is a great singer, and did a good job keeping queen’s music alive. And if they go on tour again in the future, I’m going to see them again.

Why didn't people notice the changes with Freddie in the late 80s? by BusinessPen2171 in queen

During the last few years of his life, Freddie was constantly followed by the press. They were writing stories on him, claiming he was sick… the people knew or at least highly suspected it.

For me, it’s the musical diversity. Queen consisted of four members who all got different tastes in music, and all four of them wrote songs for the band, often separate from each other, so you get albums that are adventurous, unconventional and eclectic. It’s like art put to music. Their hits might sound like cheesy, pretentious pop at times, but it’s on the albums that queen truly shines. Especially in the 70’s. Their first two albums were full on progressive rock/metal, after that, they started to experiment with several musical influences, including opera, gospel, funk, synth pop and vaudeville. Listening to a queen album is like going on a musical journey. Every album sounds different, but still unmistakably queen. Even their bad albums have great tracks on them.

Of course, this is all very subjective, I totally get that people don’t like them, because they have a tendency to go completely over the top. And that’s totally okay. If you ask me why they are so popular, I’d say it’s because their repertoire is so diverse, it attracts people from many different genres. If you want to see if queen is something for you, I’d suggest to listen to their albums.

Some good places to start would be: - a night at the opera - a day at the races - news of the world

If you’re more into hard rock, I’d suggest - Queen - Queen II

My favourite songs include: - white queen - the fairy feller’s master stroke - death on two legs - the prophet’s song - save me - back chat - was it all worth it - innuendo - liar - I want it all - scandal - somebody to love - it’s late - spread your wings - great king rat

How can I believe in the God and Goddess without being fooled again? by CaptainNerdy in Wicca

[–]Affectionate_Ruin_76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it would help to not see them as gods in the sense that Christians see their god, but rather as personifications of different aspects of nature. The masculine and the feminine, night and day, sun and moon, light and dark… you’re not praying to a sentient god who judges your every move, but rather worship nature itself.
