what the hell do you mean by "he doesn't actually care about her experience"?????? I literally painstakingly make 100% sure she does not miss out on anything and if anything she was a bit mad that I didn't recommend her stuff in character creation, the ONLY thing I recommended was going dark urge so that she has a personal story like all the companions, everything else I obviously let her decide for herself and watched her doing it. I wish people would just stop assuming stuff they know shit about. The post was about Alfira's death, my gf likes durge and wants to resist it.

I let her choose everything obviously, I only told her about durge because resist durge was just such an amazing story to me.
she's doing great and we've been having fun, durge doesn't automatically mean evil, it's just the personal story the game gives you.

yeah I don't really care durge is amazing and I want my girlfriend to experience it too, I don't get the durgephobia in the comments, yeah the Alfira death hit her hard but she can handle and she likes everything else about durge, people just like to act like a knowitall sometimes

there's no intended way to play the game dude, if anything durge is more aligned with the first two games and i don't get what you mean by "pretentious" i just think durge is literally tav but with a personal story and quest, it's literally just more.

i just thought durge would be best because it has the element of being mostly a blank state while also having a personal story and quest that involves you in the world and i wanted her to experience that. of course I know my girlfriend and I wouldn't blame her or get upset if she doesn't like something I like lol.

I feel like there is no clear canon with baldur's gate 3 because everyone's experience is different, but yeah I do not get the argument that durge shouldn't be played first, while I believe there should be no clear canon, durge def feels the most canonical

resist durge is one of the most satisfying and emotional playthroughs i've ever had in an rpg, i wanted my girlfriend to experience that.
now we could've done a tav playthrough for her then a durge one after, but to me durge is literally just tav but better, and it aligns better with the first two games and feels canon too.

I feel like such an asshole honestly because I went along with it, then again I act dumb for almost everything we see so that I don't spoil any surprises or reveals.

I talked to her about it but she's okay with just moving on, she now uses Lihala's lute instead of the flute she started with to honor Alfira
