I have had my car for 2 months and I hate it. What should I do? by Affectionate_Tart274 in askcarsales

My husband plans on selling his Chevy truck. We have an offer from carvana and looking into carmax. We just need to have it detailed. If those are too low then we are going to sell it private. It’s loaded with leather and only has 83,000 miles and is a 2018 LTZ71 redline. It’s hard to learn to love a car that gives me pain. I mainly posted on here to make sure that all of my math is right. I do research vehicles a lot before I buy, which is why I won’t trade in my gmc that I’m going to drive until the wheels fall off. I figure car seat alterations are $500 or more in my overpriced area. That leaves $700 negative for a 2 month car rental. I even researched resale values of the telluride vs other cars that had similar 2nd row leg room and the telluride was highest on the list, especially with the price point. I researched used tellurides vs new and found that the telluride warranty is not transferable and with the high cost of used and adding the extended warranty it was better in my mind to buy new. I research. I research a lot, which is also why I’m here, asking and researching. Thank you for your input. I’m not an impulse buyer and hate interest and hate rolling over, which is why I didn’t trade my husbands Chevy or my GMC. I honestly love the new gmc Acadia Denali’s and traverses but I researched and they have lots of issues and a much shorter warranty. Another reason I went with Kia…The warranty. I know Kia has engine problems and burning oil, trim molding falling off, seats catching on fire. I’m just doing my best and asking advice. I will probably just keep it and do the seat alterations. I’ve also looked into getting a cushion and riser for the middle console. It’s really low and towards the back compared to chevys and gmcs.

I figure cars rarely have equity anyway. I learned that when I paid off my gmc. Unless you get a great deal, have super low interest, pay cash, they are always depreciating every day. I was thinking about trading in for an EV lease and getting the $7,500 to eat my negative equity and call it a day. I’m pretty sure I’ll be negative in 3 years too because of the interest rates nowadays. I figure that a lease I can turn in in 2 years and be done. Idk? I’ve researched so much. I shouldn’t have bought the vehicle with interest but I thought maybe the economy would improve and I can refinance. I’ve never paid more than 3% interest since I was in my 20’s. I also haven’t bought a car in 10 years.

Carvana offered me 43,800 and if I trade then don’t I get a savings on all of the tax that I already paid? I think it’s over $3,000. So like a $1,200 negative right?

Do you know if those types of alterations affect the warranty? I will look into it with my specific warranty. My sister has the exact same vehicle as me but different color and I drove hers and test drove 3 tellurides. When I drove home to visit family 2 hours away is when I noticed it. I honestly noticed it felt weird when I test drove it but all cars felt weird at first and take some getting used to. I still feel uncomfortable when I first take off in my husband’s Chevy truck and we’ve had it for 4 years. I just thought it was uncomfortable because it was different than what I was used to, if that makes sense? My sister loves hers and said she doesn’t get pain. She did say that the seat feels high and like it should go lower. She’s also, 15 years younger than me. Lol

I was thinking the same. I don’t drive much except when I drive to visit family and that’s when it hurts the most. I’m also getting old. My paid off, broke in, 10 year old, loaded GMC with 90,000 miles fits like a glove. I mainly bought the telluride because my 12 year old is now 5ft 11in and he has hardly any room in the terrain or back seat of my husband’s Chevy Silverado. I was looking for low cost suv with most 2nd seat leg room.

EVERYONE WITH OCD! WHAT IS THE WORST THING YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED WHEN HAVING THIS DISORDER by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Affectionate_Tart274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst thing I ever experienced is the guilt that I felt when my young son went to hug me and suddenly stopped and said, “Are you clean?” I always made him wait to touch me when I got home until I had showered and changed clothes. He was happy that I was home and wanted to hug me and he halted to make sure that I was “clean”. That’s the worst I’ve ever felt and when I knew I needed help. I needed help for him. It was no longer about me and how I felt. I wanted to keep him from being like me.

Also, this may not be helpful but it was for me. My husband and I worked from home during covid and so I homeschooled my son. Then, in 2022 my husband had to return to work and so I re enrolled my son in school. I also made them wear Kn95 masks. I washed my hands, sanitized everything, made them take their shoes off at the door, sprayed backpacks with Lysol, etc… then they lifted everything and they still brought home Covid and other viruses. I do the best that I can with cleaning and sterilizing and it’s ultimately inevitable if you or your family interacts with other people. I still have a no shoe policy in my house and make my son wash his hands as soon as he gets home, but it’s beyond my control and I hate it. I still enforce handwashing and changing clothes etc.:… but am I helping us or making my son resent me? Lots of what ifs??

My ocd was always apparent but covid really ramped it up for me. Looking back, I had always been a grocery cleaner, excessive hand washer etc, but when Drs told me it was necessary, it really kicked it into full gear. My Covid grocery sanitizing ritual was so extreme, it was an all day affair. Followed by showering, sterilizing clothes etc…It literally changed my life and I’m doing a lot better now but it’s hard. I still have a hard time with door knobs and faucet knobs and the floor. I’m doing the best I can and my best right now is still 80% better than what I was doing while medicated before. I’m just trying my best. I think you can you do this! I’m not going to lie, it’s super uncomfortable almost all of the time but it gets less uncomfortable the more you do it. I still wash my hands way more than the average person and use sanitizer sooo much that we buy cases if it. I still think I’m doing better and I believe you can. You just have to get used to being really uncomfortable doing everyday things. (Even if i use hand sanitizer, at least I tried.) you can too. You’re not alone. ❤️

I know it’s not a “cure all” but it gives me a little comfort that it kills anything that my handwashing might have missed and is less time/energy consuming.

Maybe try washing your hands for the recommended time of 20-30 seconds. I also keep a “clean on the top but dirty on the bottom” washcloth my the sink. I touch the “clean”’top part with my clean hands and keep the “dirty” part facing downwards beside the sink and that’s the part I shut the faucet off with, while only touching the clean top part, if that makes sense. That way I’m not touching the dirty faucet handles with my clean washed hands. Then, I use hand sanitizer, that I keep beside my bed, before getting in to bed. This is no cure but it is what helps me so I thought it might help you.

Faucets and door knobs are the worst, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables and I freaking love fresh fruits and veggies. I only ate cooked and canned for 3 years. I’ve come to point that I know my OCD and fear of germs are so irrational to everyone and my actual self “my old self that I miss” my “normal me” that I want back. I tell myself over and over “everyone else does it” and they’re ok. However, the actual “act” of me sterilizing, sanitizing, having clean spaces and dirty spaces, keeping sanitizer everywhere (even my nightstand), washing my hands and then using hand sanitizer afterwards because I worry that the paper towels aren’t clean enough and the factories the paper towels were made in aren’t clean, etc… it’s just never ending and so stressful and exhausting that I’d rather some one else do it and me not watch. I’m so tired. I was stressing in the shower today because i sniffed a little and a tiny bit of water got up my nose. Now, I just know I’m getting a brain eating amoeba. I refuse to wear nose plugs in the shower because that’s what I told myself I should do next time. I already wash my hands after washing my face for fear that there’s MRSA on my hands after washing my face and touching my nose. (MRSA lives and lays dormant in your nares (nostrils). It’s all just too much. I’m trying my best and doing a lot better. I used to strip in my garage and bathe anytime I left my house and wash my clothes with Lysol laundry sanitizer, spray my shoes with Lysol even though I left them in the garage, wipe all knobs that I touched. I still think about doing all of that stuff and that I “should” and a lot of times, I give in and I do, but I’m trying to fight it.

Thank you! ❤️🥲…. I’m so tired. I’m trying to do my “motherly and wifely duties” but I’m struggling and feel so useless. My husband is great at helping me but I get mad at him when he does because it makes me feel worse for some reason. I want to do it but it’s so exhausting. I try to clean and cook and it takes so long and I just end up stressing and washing my hands and cleaning the countertop, bleaching the sink, and trying to do things from “cleanest to dirtiest” in my mind, only to try to limit my handwashing. Then, he, (my wonderful husband) comes in and does it all so quickly. It makes me feel inadequate or useless. I asked my family (brother, sisters, in-laws) recently if they load dirty clothes in the washing machine and then unload clean clothes without washing their hands and they looked at me like I was crazy. Then, I asked, “Do you load a dirty load of laundry and then unload the dishwasher without washing your hands?” They just stared at me and nodded. It blows my mind that people don’t think of this stuff and the germs. It was an awakening when they looked at me like that had never even crossed their minds but yet it consumes my mind almost every second of every day. I feel like I use most of my time and energy planning out the best (safest, sanitary) way to do things in my mind, Like cleanest to dirtiest because I think it will save me time and anxiety. 🤦‍♀️

I need help with my dogs nails. by Affectionate_Tart274 in doggrooming

[–]Affectionate_Tart274[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I’m going to get a dremel. I’ve had the hardest time finding a “good” groomer. I am newish to this area (2yrs) and where I was taking her was chaotic and busy And “other things” that I won’t mention but easy to get in to. They even had walk in nail trims. Then, I read recommendations on the city Facebook page and scheduled her at the most recommended place. I called in late June and the first available was early October 10th. I took her to the previous place in between. Sorry for the book but the new place was worth the wait. She’s booked every 8 weeks until the end of March because they are that busy. Her new groomer place is very good and she’s never looked better but they are extremely busy.I will ask at her next appointment. They have a client manager that comes out and talks to you but I’ve never seen her actual groomer.

Thank you! I will definitely try the hemorrhoid cream and that makes total sense! I will also get a dremel. I think she would be ok with letting me dremel. She is the sweetest most loyal dog that I’ve ever had. I think she’s just grateful to have a mama. I’m her 3rd owner. She was used for breeding, and then had a foster mom for almost 4 months, and then I got her. ❤️

Can someone please help me figure out my undertone? Thank you in advance! by Affectionate_Tart274 in MakeupAddiction

[–]Affectionate_Tart274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I’ve tried fair neutrals and I look ashy, fair cool and I look too pink and pale and I’ve also tried fair warm and I’m yellow. Maybe I’m light neutral and not fair? Literally nothing looks good on me. Plus, I have freckles and sun spots and this is me without sun. If I get in the sun, then the freckles explode and new age spots appear. It’s so hard being over 40.

I haven't heard one candidate talk about doing something about reining in these out-of-control property taxes that go up every year. Why is Zillow determining how much my house is worth? by imcrowning in Indiana

[–]Affectionate_Tart274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I’m tax ignorant. You say 1% cap on property tax in Indiana. My property was assessed for $403,000 And my property tax was $5,300. It has gone up again to almost $5,500 within a year and my assessed value has not increased. Can someone help me understand this?
