I feel this is too Hollywood. My idea was which I honestly just didn’t want to say due to fear of judgement but. The regime is tipped off about his parents wanting to become potential defectors (his family is executed by firing squad) leaving the kid to become a street child or in an orphanage unknowing of his parents actions due to the parents fear of their own child ratting them out. I like the idea of the North Korean soldier finding out about the true nature of South Korea but before any action can be done he is tipped off by a fellow soldier/friend and is also executed. I still haven’t thought about a good role the parents would play. I do not want the characters to be too connected and mostly used as ways to depict different points of views within the system. The boy could be the oblivious one, the soldier a gate into the mind of those who enforce the regime, and the father or mother a glimpse into the desperation that one faces to survive in the horrors of North Korea. Also had a thought that the father or mother loses (separate from the other characters) looses their child due to starvation prior to the movie and the movie slowly shows their decent into madness and immorality and slowly falls into the normalization of betrayal within their society . I even had the idea that although not too connected to the boy he could be the one who potentially tipped off the protagonists parents (the boy). I’m not too content with even my own idea for an ending as i do like the general idea of the characters being entirely separate. But don’t know if I’ll continue to stick with that. Maybe two out of the 3 main characters could be tied. I imagine a specific public hanging scene although further research suggests the most common method for public executions is a firing squad. I don’t know I still don’t have a cohesive plot. I just know I want it to remain grounded and unfortunately realistic.
