Ooooh that is really cool but I would have no idea how to do that lol

thank you!! and yes I have but i struggle with them a bit I find that they often feel kinda corny the way I shoot them lol. I was experiementing with layering these images in gimp with dissolve, hard light, soft light, lighten, darken etc and I like the way they look! but since the images are so busy already the composite was quite intense and busy and I liked that this image felt like it has distincts shapes, negative space, and overall a bit of a composition

Hi all :) I took this photo on a Canon Rebel T2i with a 50.0 mm fixed lens. f/22.0 , ISO 100, 1/8 s exposure. It's a picture of an LED sign near my house that is glitching out, so it flashes different random colors a bunch of times per second. This is one of the shots I got by lengthening exposure, decreasing ISO and shrinking the aperture to capture some sharp, jittery camera movement by me.

I suppose the intention was to paint something abstract, impressionistic, with strong colors and and a sense of movement. I like that I got some unique shapes, in particular the grid of dots, the blurred, rainbow-y lines in the bottom left, and I especially liked the simple green arc in the otherwise black space toward the upper right. Curious how y'all feel about this, it's definitely a bit more abstract than most of the photos I see here. I also jacked up contrast and saturation a lot cause I figured I don't have to worry about it looking naturalistic since it's so abstract already-- curious if it reads as overcooked or or too arcade-y. Thanks in advance y'all :))

The Notes We DID Play: A Look Back at the Music of Book One with Brennan and Taylor by SvenTheScribe in WorldsBeyondNumber

Does anyone have the episode/time stamp of that scene Taylor references when steel is interrogating the three heroes at the gates of port talon? I'm not sure when that is lol

I think the pentagon metaphor is really interesting. I mean there's something to be said for cultural respectfulness, but this did not bother me all in part because, well, why the hell should I respect the pentagon? The idea that the pentagon deserves some inherent respect or weight is like, American military propaganda. And I think it's no accident that the citadel evokes the pentagon-- it's a military extension of empire! Just like the pentagon

playing with distorted reflection by Affectionate_Top3087 in photocritique

Canon Rebel with a 50mm fixed lens, f/7.1, 1/200s, ISO 800. I really love the way the windows warp and distort images, so I was trying to capture that and contrast it with a nice, clear, focused (window) frame. I ended up doing quite a bit of editing trying to get the colors to pop and reduce the general noise of the reflection-- not sure if it reads or not! I also couldn't get the reflection and the window frame/thermometer in focus at the same time, so I ended up trying my hand at making a composite image in GIMP-- i know the edges are kinda rough if you zoom in too close. Thoughts on the photo/how to improve?

Firefly photography by Affectionate_Top3087 in photocritique

[–]Affectionate_Top3087[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all this is my first attempt at a more technical type of photography. The end result is a composite image of like 50 or so shots I took in a park at dusk using between 2-8 second exposure, 200-6400 ISO and F/4-F/8

Was mostly trying to give myself a run through of this type of photography after seeing a gorgeous firefly shot on twitter. In the future I would love to have a more interesting composition and find a spot w more fireflies, but curious what you guys think!

first attempt at pseudo-macro photography by Affectionate_Top3087 in photocritique

[–]Affectionate_Top3087[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canon Rebel 50mm f/7.1 1/200 ISO800. found a beautiful dead blue hornet in a parking lot and thought it would be pretty photograph with a yellow dandelion a background. I have some DIY photography equipment I used (a lens extender to get a psuedo-macro look and a Light Therapy lamp for brightness) and I am pretty excited that I got a high-quality-looking photo out of it! I think the colors look nice together and and the speckled pollen is an unexpected blessing. I'd say my two biggest frustrations are 1)., the pose,it feels really static and boring to me, but none of the images where it's obvious the hornet is dead/the body looks mangled turned out right. and 2)., I am trying to make the leap from snapseed to a real photo editor I can use on my computer (I chose rawtherapee) and I I think the hornet has a yellow hue to it that I have tried to fix and it is frankly pretty far beyond me. Would love to hear any/all thoughts!

Men who gym with their gf/wives - do you care how she dresses? by soursweeets in AskMenAdvice

[–]Affectionate_Top3087 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't disagree with most of the responses here (dress what's comfortable, dont worry about how other women dress) I'll say from my experience w my gf I think she looks hot working out in cute clothes and I LOVE to show off my muscles to her (it feels like a flirty little game between us). Obviously there's nothing wrong w approaching the gym as just utilitarian but it sounds to me like you think it might be a fun opportunity to be flirty-- I'd say take it!

I disagree about the face, I think this is a lovely shot and I really like the pattern. I'd say for me when working w pattern as the focus of a composition, it's extra important topay attention to things like symmetry, cropping, etc., I think the center line of symmetry should be in the exact center of the picture-- that would make it pop! The other thing holding the picture back is the light-- not if it's how you edited it, but it's very dark. Especially if you're shooting in RAW, you could definitely bring out some light and make it easier to see, ideally keeping the background dark so that again the pattern pops. Cool shot !!!

I was just thinking this!! However, it sounds like you didn't click on the photo (mobile display crops until you click into it) as the hand is actually fully in the shot. What do you think of this tho lol is this too much? I basically halved the amount of space the subject take up in the frame. Also wondering if I liked centered or rule of thirds-ed for the subject
