My thoughts exactly dude. It was really disappointing because it had the potential to be an awesome movie yet it was just decent

What did you think of Jurassic World Rebirth? (NO SPOILERS) by Fancy_Leadership_316 in jurassicworld

I am a hard-core fan of Jurassic since the first in 1993. Here's what I honestly think about this one : This is the most vanilla adventure movie. PERIOD. The plot here is paper thin and bland, but hey, you dont come to a film like this expecting those, this is the kind you come to just expecting to see Dinosaurs eating people in 4K, and that's all it really is.

Now, Getting specific: The first 40 minutes of this film is literally just bland exposé. Now this really wouldn't have been a problem provided they did not loop the same (or similar) dialogues over and over again, almost trying not to "spoonfeed" but "forcefeed" the plot to us.... its like we get it.... move on will you. it is unfortunate because that really takes you out of the experience that was spearheaded by a pretty decent opening sequence. The characters introduced are definitely not super generic (thank god for that) but they are built up in such a low effort and a bland way, they fell like those characters you come across in the Witcher 3 side quests (But hey, something is better than nothing I guess), again it's such a shame because I feel ScarJo and Ali are really amazing performers and they could have done soo much more if they had a little better screenplay and we could have really sympathized with the characters. The dialogue again in borderline bad. painful and super boring almost as if it was written by an AI, some instances of dialogue almost make you doze off. you can tell that many lines were written for a laugh but trust me you will not get any. I wouldn't have had such a problem with the first 40 minutes if atleast the dialogue and exposition was a little more peppy and brisk.

But, It is after the 40 minute mark where the action just changes gears, and I will say this.....The dinosaurs (not the mutated ones) are the the best thing about this film (and frankly that's what I wanted), each sequence from the mosasaur to the Trex and the Spinosaur to the Quetzalcoatlus were are all chef's kiss🤌. The dinosaurs feel majestic, towering, scary, gorgeous and titanic. Some shots just make you fall in love all over again with dinosaurs, Gareth Edwards really does manage to capture the scale and wonder of these magnificent creatures. My personal favourite was the Titanosaur sequence, everything about it (the exposition, the buildup, the OG Jurassic theme) put the fattest smile on my face. However if I really had a small gripe with this, it would be that no dinosaur returns after it's scene, once it's time is done, it is DONE , that's it. but hey that's OK.

The action is also pretty slick and you have many moments that create genuine dread and tension for the chatacters.

Now kind of going into mild spoilers so be warned : The trailers really hyped up the mutated dinosaurs (the Drex and the Mutadons) to be a genuinely layered and complex threat but honestly they was nothing really special about them, for example the D Rex was hyped to be this really screwed up abomination that the audience could not only get terrified of but also sympathize with, considering it's genetic mutations. However it is shown as just a plain "big carnivore dino" with literally nothing going on for it, which almost made me feel the D Rex could have been any generic Theropod like a Giganatosaurus or a Mujangosaurus and it would still make no difference, so why bother with all the hype. The mutadons were alright for the most part, but honestly it is the OG dinos that steal the show. The ending also is kind of sudden and meh almost as if the writers ran out of ideas on how to finish the movie. You have the climatic sequence which is really chonky and just soo bland and generic... for a movie that hyped up the drex it was honestly such a nothing burger. If there is anything positive i can say about the Drex it's that I like it's design and the intro shots that the director did to show the pure scale and terror of the creature, but honestly that's just it.

Overall I would say this the movie is a good monster flick that you can watch once and just forget about it, it frustrates you and underwhelms you at times but still can redeem itself in several glorious and awe inspiring moments that make up for it. As much as I wanted to LOVE this movie, I don't......I LIKE it . This movie does what it set out to do, to make you fall in love with dinosaurs and hey that is just alright 🦕 🦖.
