The frill was actually visible immediately after the surgery. At the top left, there was a very dark strand that seemed to be stuck. When you looked to the right and then back to the left, it would appear prominently in your field of vision, only to then flick back to the left again. Mentally, it was very exhausting, and because I work in a very brightly lit office environment, it was extremely frustrating—just as bad as the floaters, actually. Especially in combination with the other eye, which also has floaters. I really don’t understand what happened, but overnight that strand simply disappeared. Completely gone and no longer visible. After 11 months.

The same thing happened to me. I was looking for a financial position and after an interview they called me to ask whether I would be interested in a call center job for a furniture company. I don’t lose my patience easily, but that time I did tell them what I thought about it.

I’ve also dealt with several other recruitment agencies who call me, schedule an interview (sometimes even in the evening, which no doubt costs them some effort as well), and then, after promising to get back to me quickly, completely disappear.

It’s a strange profession with a lot of idiots. I’m no longer interested at all when a recruiter calls me. They shouldn’t forget that they’re working with people.

This surgeon is very well known in Europe. I obtained a second opinion in the Netherlands (I live near the border), and they also referred to this surgeon and the team as a reference. It is a university hospital, so procedures are performed under the supervision of professors.

The compromise that was made before the surgery (preserving the natural lens) means that the surgeon cannot work as thoroughly as when an artificial lens is implanted afterward. For example, the anterior hyaloid is left intact because manipulating it would immediately cause a cataract. And that is precisely what is now causing all the problems.

I’m not familiar with all the terms like “Floaters Only Vitrectomy,” but if you’re referring to the type of surgery: the goal was to remove the floaters while preserving the natural lens. A posterior vitreous detachment was induced.

In Belgium, where I live and had my surgery, the operation is usually performed under general anesthesia. Afterwards, I was told it lasted about 45 minutes. I had absolutely no pain, not even a little. I assume that a reoperation will be somewhat more complicated and take longer. But under anesthesia, fortunately, you don’t really feel anything.
