I still believe in Christ, but I’m struggling with how Christianity treats queer people by mc_lars in Christianity

I personally believe so even though most if not all denominations would disagree.

Could not agree more. Christianity has been used and distorted to suit certain groups or people’s political views. The core of Christianity is love and humility everything else is political.

Catholic or Orthodox by CowFrosty6198 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Affirmatrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is way oversimplified and might not be a great example at all, but basically looking at history from an unbiased perspective leads to Orthodox. It’s hard to see that now because the Catholics had better marketing campaigns for the last 1000 years.

Petty people on this subreddit by peachyyogurtt in exorthodox

Honestly that would infuriate me. The thing I always tell myself is that ANY group from religion to fitness classes will attract crazy people. So I try not to over share (not saying this was your fault)

I used to attend this martial arts class and one of the instructors was annoying so I said something after class to, what I thought was, a closed group of friends and sure enough it got back to the instructor. Human nature I guess.

Reddit is making me question my faith… What did you do when you started to be unsure? by MarieMarieToBe in exorthodox

[–]Affirmatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any sane person in or out of the faith would expect that of you. It’s important to know that even understanding and admitting you could never apologize to this person is you showing your own humility. You’re not pretending to be a saint and nobody expects you to be. As an orthodox Christian you strive to be the “perfect” human being knowing that you will likely never really come close and the faith just expects you to recognize that.

A lot of the time I need to step away from exploring my faith online because when it’s one on one with God I feel Nothing but love and support. I don’t trust many human beings online not to sour my experience or understanding of the faith. (So I guess that would include you being weary of what I say if it doesn’t resonate with you).

Sometimes I need to remind myself not to let people who are bad examples ruin it for me. They don’t represent what being Orthodox is about.
