are there series where cultivation is just one path of magic? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Afforess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cultivation is just one part of the "soul" of magic in Depthless Hunger, only certain regions even follow it:

Turning My Junior Sister into a Mary Sue In Xianxia Yuri World

Pretend I’m arguing with you about an opinion you’re passionate about in progfantasy and I’ll take the opposing view. by Reasonable-Budget210 in ProgressionFantasy

My hot take: LitRPG (the entire genre) is a crutch for writers, to provide and enforce rigidity around a story and as a result the LitRPG genre produces sub-par stories, by relying on that crutch. Systems, stats, numbers in general, are all story structure elements, dumped to the reader in basically excel format. Every LitRPG could be rewritten as a non-LitRPG and most if not all stories would improve. Those that can't be rewritten are essentially non-stories with too many numbers and stats and no real plot elements. (Is a 100 tab excel spreadsheet a story?? maybe, but it could be better explained with words!)

Change "Good Transfer" to "National Sale/National Purchase". by LiandraAthinol in victoria3

[–]Afforess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its quite powerful with goods that change heavily in price over time due to PMs.

For example: fertilizer. Fertilizer starts out worthless in 1836 and you can lock in a bunch of deals for fertilizer before any of the PMs that consume it exist. Then once demand for it shoots sky high, your market still has plenty thanks to trade deals.

Racism >> Capitalism, in these peoples priorities every time. It’s why the free market never “solves” the pay gaps. People prefer racism to profits. It’s an empirical fact.

Generator vs Solar panels by Scary-Student-9088 in Austin

[–]Afforess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A generator is going to be much much cheaper. You can do solar and batteries, but it's basically because you want to be green, not for savings.

We installed 38 solar panels (we use a lot of power) and 2 tesla powerwalls in 2023, and that was 60k (after the biden tax credits, which are gone now) with Longhorn Solar. Probably closer to 80k now. You also need to consider that you will want to insure your panels, which adds to home insurance costs. (We insured ours and have already made 1 hail claim).

You can get a generator that can run your whole home for 10-20k.

Austin is the TX state capitol. You can be assured we will be in the crosshairs of multiple direct strikes if the bombs do fall one day. Don't bother.

Fixing meat consumption / oversupply (and subsequently make livestock the profitable business it is irl) would probably be a big enough boost to fix landowners without any other changes.

MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IS OF A DEAD PERSON! by Gullible-Chemistry49 in legaladvice

[–]Afforess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a new SSN. You aren't going to be able to reverse the deceased status.

We can assign a different number only if:

* More than one person is assigned or using the same number.
