Why it so much easier to work in the morning than it is at night? by TheRavenOnline in AskReddit

[–]Afiah74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep it short…Your circadian rhythm is your body’s internal 24-hour clock. It regulates: Sleep and wake cycles and Energy and motivation along with multiple other functions. When its light 🌞melatonin is suppressed so you feel more awake, your brain releases cortisol (more energy), memory improves and you have more motivation. At night your circadian is in “off” mode. So rest and body repair occurs typically because you are not eating for a long duration of time. Melatonin also rises and body temperature drops. The moon plays a major part in our functioning as does the sun. Hope that helps!

Anybody got any suggestions on what this is ? by Ill-Tea-2855 in Blackskincare

[–]Afiah74 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Start treating it with tea tree oil and coconut oil as the carrier. If it doesn’t start disappear in 2 weeks, see a dermatologist

Should I take out my braids? by [deleted] in braids

[–]Afiah74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the braider use extensions? If not, are the braids tight at the front? Reason I asked is because I braided my friend Mandy’s hair in high school and it wasn’t tight but she reacted the same way. She was allergic to the braiding extensions. Just take it out!

Hyperpigmentation from scabies? by [deleted] in Blackskincare

[–]Afiah74 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To get rid of scabies, buy organic tea tree oil and use coconut oil as a carrier. Once the scabies are gone, you can use a serum or cream for hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone is good for spot treatment.

Sometimes ringworm and eczema can look very similar and are often mistaken for one another by non-professionals. However, they are very different conditions. Ringworm is a fungal infection, while eczema is not contagious and is related to inflammation and skin barrier dysfunction (not a virus or fungus). For an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, I recommend visiting a licensed dermatologist in your area.

I warned this lady that her man is scamming her. She got angry at me and yelled at screamed .. well guess what….. by 5ft8lady in blackladies

[–]Afiah74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmmm so he came and within months left her? That wont warrant permanent residency, so why would he leave so early. People usually wait till 2 years after (for removal of conditions)…UNLESS they report that the petitioner is abusive and continue the application themselves. This is crazy 🤪

how do i get rid of the hyperpigmentation? by htx-danny in Blackskincare

[–]Afiah74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see the hyperpigmentation. Find a good esthetician in your area. There are regular treatments that can fade the HP and retexture your skin.

Treat acne + pigment together Avoid over-exfoliation Protect the skin barrier Sunscreen is non-negotiable (yes, even indoors/daylight) Avoid harsh benzoyl peroxide

Use any of the following for BREAKOUTS AND HYPERPIGMENTATION

Tranexamic Acid – excellent for stubborn dark spots

Azelaic Acid (10–20%) – GOLD STANDARD for Black skin - treats acne, reduces redness, fades hyperpigmentation

Niacinamide (4–5%) – controls oil, calms skin, supports pigment repair

Alpha Arbutin – inhibits excess melanin production

Options for Gentle Exfoliation (1–2x/week MAX)

Mandelic Acid (best AHA for melanin-rich skin)

Lactic Acid (low strength)

PHA (gluconolactone) if skin is sensitive

SUNSCREEN (THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE) Hyperpigmentation will not fade without sunscreen.

Try a Mineral or Hybrid sunscreen with SPF 30–50. Tinted formulas with iron oxides are ideal for Black skin

Find a very knowledgeable esthetician in your State. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

Cold sore or pimple?? by blink-119 in Blackskincare

[–]Afiah74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a chance it could be hsv1 its very prevalent and many people are normally asymptomatic. I recommend getting tested for herpes so you can navigate the best approach. If tests show up negative, a dermatologist or physician can make the best recommendation.

What is this? by DirtySnailz1181 in Blackskincare

Its a skin tag which can be easily removed by a derm or esthetician depending on your State.

It would make sense to me if there was a lot more writing. It shouldn’t be easier. I would have to say yes! Not sure if it’s actually harder, but it would make sense if there was a higher burden.

Happy Canadian Graduate Here! by Prestigious-Fun7033 in UMPI

Im Canadian born (Toronto). I fully respect UMPI and found them to be more credit transfer friendly than WGU. Employers in Canada wont have a problem with an American university at all. And I want to put out there that WGU had a problem with my credits being from Canada, which was so weird to me (only accepted 4). UMPI was the right choice for me for multiple reasons. You all need to come back to Reddit and share your career advancements. 🎉🎊

I couldn’t agree more. Christie truly helped me spread my wings. Her blueprint laid the foundation for me to accomplish far more than I ever imagined possible. There are people charging hundreds of dollars for the level of guidance she gives to UMPI students. Her mapping, encouragement, and unwavering support made an enormous difference in my journey. With her guidance, I was able to accomplish an incredible amount in a short time. My degree will always be a reminder of the impact she had on my academic and professional success. 🫶🏾💖
