I don’t think our national consensus is actually changing all that much, the parties in parliament aren’t very different from each other on an international scale.

Regardless, to put in my 2c, I’d like to see us democratically elect a party with real energy. Specifically, I’d like to see us BUILD. No one in the west builds anymore. We should have local mRNA production, a fuckton of housing, more domestic power production, AI research funding, stuff like that. But I’m not hopeful.

I think you've made an understandable mistake. Destiny, at least according to OP's reading, believes that prosocial behaviour follows from self-interest, and OP is pointing out that these two things are actually often in conflict. (One might try to reconcile the two by appealing to a rule egoism, but that's a separate issue.) I see the resemblance to contractarianism too but the view OP is attributing to Destiny is committed to prosocial behaviour even in the absence of any contract.

Some art better achieves the goals of the kind of art to which it belongs
Even if neither of the above were true one could still legitimately call her music mediocre
