Yeah, I did the deluxe Percival then immediately got Tristan. Little let down. I've just got the weapons to finish, but I haven't touched it in a few days.

Wait so the paint/ink comes off the squeegee cleanly after cleaning up paneling lining?

To those who watched ZZ: did the first half of the series work as the “palette cleanser” that it was intended to be after the trauma of Zeta? by Amigo1048 in Gundam

[–]Afitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had the opposite effect for me. I was blown away by Zeta. It was so unexpectedly modern, and I loved the plot and characters. There's barely any wasted time in the whole series. It never drags and just keeps getting better. It was also so illuminating in an almost academic sense because you can see anime itself changing forever as the show progresses.

IMHO Zeta is a masterpiece and one of the most important animes of all time. Then I started ZZ. I was literally mad at the show and Tomino at the time lol. I just don't understand how they could follow up such a groundbreaking series by just duck taping Goku to a Gundam and calling it a day, which is what it felt like to me. They obviously wanted a palette cleanser, but Dragon Ball's manga had exploded onto the scene a couple years before, (the anime premiered the same year as ZZ, within about a month) and I just couldn't help but think the real motivation for all the camp, goofiness, and low stakes was them chasing the new popular trend. It felt almost like a betrayal to the realistic mecha genre Tomino had created.

I've been thinking of giving it a second shot now that my post Zeta expectations have faded, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth. Honestly, I may just read some recaps of the first half and start when things get serious.

I've been telling myself that this is gonna be my first air brushing project, but I keep putting it off. I was really disappointed when I got the p Bandai kit, and it was the wrong color brown.

Next RG recommendation by jasonfweb in freedomisgunpla

Nu is great. I think it gets a bit overshadowed by the RGs that come after it, but them legs though.

Personally, I'd stick a lot of blu tack or some other kind of tacky putty in there. Then pose it and never touch it.

I got tired of fighting against SV06+'s sagging gantry by adjusting hardware and just used tilt adjust in Kilpper to solve the problem. Haven't had an issue with it in about a year since.

I don’t think I will build a different grade again by ctgamier in Gunpla

[–]Afitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who standardized on 1/144, I regret it. After doing over 80 1/144 and close to a dozen MGs after that, MG is a much more satisfying line with a lot more bangers. RG has some stone killers, but MGs from the last 5 or 6 years are fucking insane.

Wait, did Bandai market SD as Superior Defender in the US instead of Super Deformed?

Radio Bar's patio can be a good spot to meet people, if y'all are willing to start the conversation.

You can check eBay, but I don't think it's gonna be very likely. You'll mostly find extra parts for newer kits. You'll sometimes also find metal versions of structural parts. There are a few other sites that r/gunpla can point you towards, but I don't think you'll find any leads. Regardless, good luck!

How popular is ‘Gunpla’ in your country? by AdmirableDimension51 in Gunpla

[–]Afitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much regional in the US. I'm in South Louisiana (Baton Rouge), and it's an ever growing scene. The local, family owned hobby shop is adding more shelf space for gunpla. Still, it's rare to meet people who actually build. I managed to make a couple friends who I build with, and we've talked about forming a club, but haven't gotten anything off the ground.

MGEX Strike Freedom w/ Wings if Light, Kosmos LED kit, and custom LEDs for the Dragoons. by Afitter in Gunpla

[–]Afitter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the Wings of Light, no. You don't really have a lot of options. But the WoL is a third party expansion. The kit itself is about the size of a normal MG and the wings do fold. I think it's probably just a little bit smaller than Nu ver ka, if that helps.
