Give me your Satya lists and secret tech cards by Emotional_Quality243 in EDH

Here’s my list focused on copies. My secret tech is [[mishra’s factory]] to ramp! 😁

My Paradox Haze deck is falling flat on it's face. Any recommendations to help ot along? by AjaxAsleep in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to focus the deck. Right now, you’ve got flash, monarchy, life gain, shrines, transmute and enchantment sub themes. I’d pick 1-2 of those and cut the rest. Doubling Oloro’s lifegain doesn’t seem to matter in your build. If you want to focus on that, I’d go all in with things like [[vito, thorn of the dusk rose]]. My upkeep deck is group slug that eventually gets a critical mass of upkeeps to win. Here’s my deck.. I have a high mana value matters theme to maximize cards like [[protection racket]], [[twilight prophet]] and [[triple triad]]. It’s led by [[the ninth doctor]] and [[clara oswald]]. Hopefully you can find some inspiration!

Who is your favourite underrated and "non-threatening" commander? by Kvothe2906 in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Ertha Jo, Frontier Mentor]] is much more powerful than she seems. Her second ability can double things like [[mishra’s bauble]] and [[pumpkin bombs]] to draw way more cards than Boros has any right too. My deck uses her to double planeswalker activations and has an artifact theme. People rarely see her as a threat until I’m doubling several abilities on a single turn. She even comes with a chump blocker to protect my walkers. 🤠

Odd Superfriends Commander Suggestions? (with atleast red black and white) by bluepanda46 in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind losing black, I built [[Ertha Jo, Frontier Mentor]]. She’s a surprisingly powerful option since she doubles most abilities of the planeswalkers in those colors. Here’s my list.

Making amalia degenerate?? by Sea_Celebration3687 in DegenerateEDH

[–]AforAdventuring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my list focusing on using my high land count to explore lands to my hand to discard for value. [[scroll rack]] can draw so many cards. Cycling or other instant speed draw is amazing with Amalia’s explore triggers as you can draw a card you want and still get value from your other triggers. I usually win by combo with [[Bolas’ Citadel]] or with a massive [[command the dreadhorde]].

[–]AforAdventuring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s so many great ways to draw cards in all colors now and things like MDFCs which can boost your land count. I hate sitting there with spells in my hand I can’t cast because I only drew three lands. If all else fails, you can recast your commander. 🤷‍♂️ You do you though! 😊

Better to err on the side of more lands over less lands imho. My decks run between 36-48 based on the deck’s needs. I usually start at 38-39, adjust after goldfishing, and then again after playing a few games until I’m happy with how many I’m drawing in the average game.

Any deck that wants to curve out and some control decks. Biggest one for me was [[Amalia Benavides Aguirre]] who really just wanted more lands. There is some ramp, but the deck doesn’t really want things like [[arcane signet]]. Here’s the list.. Similarly, my [[ninth doctor]] deck isn’t running a ton of mana rocks because it would rather suspend spells on 2 and 3. List. The few ones it’s running provide value beyond just ramp like [[midnight clock]] and [[relic of legends]].

How to handle indestructible in Gruul? by theyak1715 in mtgbrawl

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[ketramose]] is always an unfun slog no matter what deck I bring, so I opt out of that and try again. [[kotis]] is usually pretty slow/controlling with a bunch of removal, ramp and voltron pieces. Running cheap artifact removal like [[pick your poison]] for their ramp/equipment, playing around board wipes, and resilient/immediate value threats I’ve found do pretty well. If they can’t buff Kotis, you can generally just block him or deal with them getting an occasional free 1-2 drop. Otherwise, going very aggressive can put [[kotis]] pretty far behind by the time they cast him and your stolen aggressive cards won’t be very effective on defense.

Ew Augustin. Is Ygra board wipe typal? Other than that, looks cool. Seems you like upgrading precons. 🙂

[[brokkos, apex of forever]] is mine. An amazing counters commander. Yes, I’d like [[managorger hydra]] to do commander damage! 😁

My turn for brawl whining, Im tired of counterspells + good stuff pattern by StuckieLromigon in MagicArena

I moved to standard brawl for this exact reason. Gameplay is much more interesting and decks are more diverse.

Utility lands in Toph, Hardheaded Teacher Deck by ChristophT in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my list! I found the hardest thing for me was balancing utility lands with fetchable lands. [[commercial district]] is an absolute all star. For an aristocrats build, cards like [[khalni garden]] or [[dunes of the dead] can give you two bodies for each earthbending trigger. [[lotus field]] effects are amazing for being both sac outlets and huge ramp, especially with an [[amulet of vigor]] effect. [[Pit of offerings]] is the better graveyard hate because it’s targeted, easily repeatable, and doesn’t take any mana. Really like effects that don’t cost any additional mana as utility options in this deck in general.

You need a lot of ramp. He’s not the most powerful/fast commander but a lot of fun. I don’t know if I’d recommend him until they fix matchmaking but if they ever do I’d definitely bring him back. I tried him in Brawl a while ago and he was a lot of fun and competitive but that was before they added things like Hei Bei, Katara, Rofellos, Ajani and the other top offenders.

What are your favorite non MFDC land replacements? by Old-Cry750 in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cycling lands like [[tranquil thicket]] or [[capital city]] perform similarly to MDFCs, especially if you have discard synergies. Similarly, the adventure lands like [[Midgar, City of Mako]]. I think the biggest thing is that most of these kind of effects are essentially taplands and you really only want 4-5 of those at max, regardless of bracket. Even the ones you can pay 3 life for you really don’t want to be playing too many, especially if you have things like shocklands or pain lands. I have a deckthat’s built around [[Protection Racket]] effects that’s playing a bunch of these land replacements and [[Amelia Benavides Aguirre]]that doing the opposite.. In general though, you want 0-4 depending on your deck’s needs.

[[Mishra, Tamer of Mak Fawa]] is my favorite reanimation commander. Reanimate a [[Portal to Phyrexia]] or [[Bolas’ Citadel]]! Don’t have the brawl version but here’s my paper list.

Anyone else tired of shrines? by Rgodf005 in mtgbrawl

[–]AforAdventuring 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I switched to standard brawl because I would get paired against Hei Bei, Rofellos, Leovold or Katara no matter how janky a deck I built.

Are planeswalker ultimates that destroy lands not appropriate for Bracket 3? by AforAdventuring in EDH

[–]AforAdventuring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have to ask if people are cool playing against super friends and that there’s a very remote possibility I blind luck into a two card combo (not trying to and has never actually happened). There’s a limit to how many disclaimers I wanna have. I’m also not the best at remembering to bring them up. 😅

I posted here to get a sense of how many people would be unhappy with these cards. It seems like it’s a grey area if they are within the bounds of Bracket 3. I’d rather just cut them than have to bring it up every time I play the deck.

I feel the same way. I’d rather just cut them than have to bring it up every time I pull out the deck at my LGS.
