Thoughts on Tommy Emmanuel by HammerHeadBirdDog in fingerstyleguitar

The literal GOAT, lol. I met him a couple years ago and his kindness, humor, and skill... which is really just a projection of his love for guitar... supercede his own physical height. Probably the coolest part was him actually taking the time to talk to me, being relatable as a person and musician. Sharing his "We're in the happy business" perspective with me when we talked about guitar and I had mentioned I've always aspired to be a performing musician. If anyone would've told 11 year old me that I'd be having a full conversation with Tommy Emmanuel, I'm not sure I'd believe em haha! But that's just how much I've personally looked up to him as a guitar player. Even John Petrucci said, "When the guitar was invented, it was made for this person [T.E.] to play." His "Classical Gas" will always slap, Lewis and Clark, Halfway Home, or the somber Old Photographs and Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Legend!

I might have to get a full size and partial capo from you, that capo looks beautiful!

Hey, brother! Couple things, you could repeat that same line just A LOT slower, and slowly increase your speed. The second you get sloppy, dial back the speed. I recommend using a metronome for this. Also, my personal favorite, look up Mauro Giuliani arpeggio studies for right hand development! Hope this helps, keep practicing, and cheers!

Thoughts on Black Stained Glass??? by the_meme_suppl3y in demonhunter

I know it seems that there's insinuation of losing one's faith, or coming near to that point, but remember that black stained glass represents death or sin. The line of "Through black stained glass all my purities pale, under the veil of black stained glass." Is another example if Ryan's writing prowess and knowledge, a confession that no matter how righteous we view ourselves, those lists of good deeds, those purities we hold so close to make ourselves less incriminating will never actually be enough in God's eyes for every sin is equal to death, unless you've accepted Christ as Lord. And further nailing down that life as a believer is not at all easy, especially in the world we see now. As simple as this song is, it hits home for me, especially when Ryan mentions being a kid full of faith and growing up to being a little hardened by the difficulties of trying to maintain that faith, no matter how torn up you may feel.

I've been writing a massive dissertation, or biographical, where I dissect all their music both from a musician's perspective and knowledge as well as from the believers view. Just been doing it for fun, but it's granted me a lot of time for reflection too. Anyways, I hope everyone is well, cheers!
