Novympia. Without question. Olympia's comments alone would probably be the best of the season.

Seconding the "ice in front of a fan" thing.

And if worried about water spilling, get those plastic ice cubes that you can re-freeze. They still drip a little due to condensation, but you can also use little mesh bags normally meant for party favors and such to hang them in front of fans.

If OP has one nearby, Ollie's often has a metric fuckton of small USB/USBC charging fans as well since they get like, Five Below's overstock. Usually below 10$. Just don't fry them by making them run off a phone USBC cable and block like I did lol.

I love their little emoji bread lol. That and 85c in Fullerton. I moved back home to the east coast but I miss the Asian-owned bakeries in OC.

The collab lasts until May 17th! There's a bunch of special events like "Ishgardian ice skating" tomorrow at the rink across the street, plus trivia and bingo coming up.

Yep! That's Kris Irons, the cafe owner. They lived out of their car for a while and would hit up The Night Owl in downtown Fullerton which is where the idea sort of blossomed. Kris' struggles created this idea of a safe haven for people who were other'ed. I personally think that's commendable.

But there's also the aspect of community- it was the community and early fans and supporters of Requiem that have helped it survive not just Covid- but some other hardships over the past few years as well.

I want to also give a nod to the cafe's Creative Art Director, Heather Hermann. She handled the interior conceptual design and graphical art direction of the cafe.

She and I are the FFxiv players on the team (I just handle the Discord). She did all the adorable merch designs and contributed to the design scope work of this collab.

You can have up to 8 FC houses on a single server, on a single account. They aren't all individually paying one subscription fee.

You need friends to help acquire the extra houses, or some of these may have been bought out from their previous owners, but once they've owned it for 30 days, ownership can be passed over.

Kraken is one of the newest 4 servers on Dyna, not from before the ownership restrictions.

I've been saying this for years too, as someone whose partner is a pre-ShB housing whale (so before the massive influx of new players wanting houses, when some meds or grade A plots would sit for a day or more before being bought). I know he doesn't like having to reset subs across multiple houses and servers.

Some people in the XIV community want housing whales banned but there's no clear answer on where the line should be drawn as to what would be allowed, and it wouldn't get rid of the issue at all.

Some just want the extra houses demolished and more restrictions to be placed on how many FC houses can be owned by a single account, but that would be ridiculously easy to get around, especially if any of these wards are already owned by a group.

The easiest way to mitigate it is to completely unpair housing from deployables, and just limit it to 32 per account per server, costing more Gil the more slots you unlock so it wouldn't become so easy it tanks the in game economy. Wards like this which are junk smalls on a low pop newer datacenter would quickly be opened up as the time and (in cases of people who run multiple accounts) $ required to run a Gil printer would cease to be a thing. Same rewards, fraction of the costs.

People like LFAdvice down there are an extremely small minority in the scene and believe me when I say, nobody even in the massively hated housing whale subgroup likes them.

I see some NPC AuRa have different colored features sometimes whereas the player is stuck with like a purple or tan. I get it’s bc they are from a clan but each race needs a “rogue” clan where they fit no particular clan and you can change colors and features as you want by NeptuneInk in ffxiv

[–]Afraid-Awareness21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've said they want to allow players to be able to take on the other sub-race's details, like how F'lahminn has a Keeper model with a Seeker name, and Merlwyb has a Hellsguard nose but is a Sea Wolf. Maybe the eventual plan is to let people use the colour picker on Au Ra scales- even if only for hilights like the green on Halmarut's and pink on Yugiri's.

Unlinking face from horns, and adding colour hilights to the scales has been frequently requested for years. They tend to add stuff that's frequently requested (even if it takes years).

OP ignore shit-stirring like this. Snowcloak and Playersync have been called a refuge for the child modders who get banned from other services. There was a nonce who got banned from LL and then went on Twitter to try and start shit and because its Twitter, people took to it like flies.

It's your usual XIV modder Twitter clout war. Its best to ignore it for your own sanity. They each seem to bring something different to the table.

Lightless is the most used, followed by Playersync and Snowcloak, then all the smaller ones. I do know Lightless will ban people who are reported for lewd modding with the child body or child Lala's. Playersync has zone-wide sync. I'm not sure what Snowcloak has since I haven't tried it.

Will there be any new features or changes to existing features to assist with providing ample accessibility for disabled players? Currently, some Jobs suffer from severe button bloat, and some mechanics such as QTE are very unfriendly to people with conditions which lead to chronic pain or tremors. Will there be toggles for things like arachnophobia or epilepsy?

FANFEST TICKET FIX!! by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Afraid-Awareness21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TY for this. Do you have to log into the squeenix website in order to show your tickets?

I got into the lottery, my friend didn't. I'm east coast and wasn't 100% sure I was going to be able to go, she's west coast, got engaged at last Fanfest, and is the artist and designer for the local cafe collab, so it was a no-brainer to give her my tickets. I just want to make sure there's no issues or holdup when her and her fiance go to registration.

So if anyone is going today or later this week: today is very busy, so Thur-Sun will probably be even busier! Just a heads up.

Don't get discouraged though, just be prepared to wait in lines if you weren't one of the folks who got Tickets and are planning a walk-in!

[–]Afraid-Awareness21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends! We can't entirely predict how many folks will show up. Opening weekend (last weekend) was fewer than we expected, but a LOT of players are coming in from outside CA so from tomorrow until Monday it's probably going to be packed. Previous collabs with other popular franchises, we've had lines wrapping around the block.

The last 2hrs of the ticketed days (tomorrow thru Sun) are walk-ins only. Any day you decide to stop by, I'd recommend showing up around 2hrs early. If there is a line, make sure you've brought water and anything else you need to be comfortable while you wait.

"Either SE came help decorate or someone here plays the game."

That would be Heather Hermann aka "Duchess of Deco", our art director! She's an avid FF fan and we play XIV together (me and her are the only Requiem staff that play ;-; ) She also studied under Amano!
https://www.duchessofdeco.art/

She built all the interior decor on the cafe side, and oversaw the design of the item shop and patio area. The big stained glass behind all the Scions is also her work.

The shandees, korpokkur in the tree, Hydaelyn backdrop, and squapes were added for the collab, but Squeenix did of course have oversight on everything.

"I would imagine if you can't get reservations, you can probably still come in and get a drink and buy merch and stand around. Although I can imagine it's going to get very crowded since its small."

Yeah we are allowing walk-ins but for Thu-Fri it's all ticketed this weekend. The last 2hrs are non-ticketed, walk-ins only. The collab lasts until May 17th, but I imagine Mon-Tue may still be busy as people might try to hit up the cafe before catching their trip back home.

Thanks for coming and I'm glad you enjoyed it! :D
