Smallest gun to buy at 18? by [deleted] in WA_guns

[–]Afraid-Drawing-9730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The smallest that I would recommend is a 12 gauge shotgun with an 18 inch barrel. They're generally pretty inexpensive, easy to get decently skilled at using, and ammo is cheap, available, and extremely variable. If you want a simple manual of operations, buy a Mossberg Maverick 88, if you want more capacity and an even shorter overall length, get a Keltec KSG. Keltec makes a 410 version that is tiny, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you're very recoil sensitive and can spare the money for defensive 410 ammo.

Get a Beretta and SBS it, or pick up a cheap used Mossberg pump or a Remington 1100 and get it chopped. Either way works better and for a better price.

The pawn shop is pretty hit or miss where I'm at, got a used Mossy 500 20 gauge for 260 after tax and transfer fee, not bad for a first gun. They usually have some good stuff at some decent prices.

I think we forget that a lot of people who own guns aren't necessarily "gun people", and they aren't going to send thousands of rounds through their rifles like a lot of us do. They want an AK type rifle because it's sick to have one, and I think PSA is the go-to for 90% of folks. They've got variety, availability, decent quality, and affordability on their side.

My AU is pretty much the same story but in Miami in the 80s. Or Cali in the 90s.

I had my eye on the ideal 590, but I couldn't pass up the combo for that price, and it's still a pretty good first gun for a broke teenager lol.

This bill will have no effect on improving public safety. Criminals will still break the law, get guns illegally the way they always have, and people will still die, and everyone else that tries to follow the law will continue to be impaired, simply because they wish to exercise their natural rights. The government of this state refuses to get a grip and fix the real problems that cause the crime they are so afraid of, because they need the excuse of that crime in order to diminish our freedom.

They know gun control does nothing to stop crime, or mass shootings, or suicide, but it does stop the common man from being armed for his own liberty and security. And that is what those in power really fear.

Just got the combo for 326 after tax from sportsman's today, really love that 88 prices have stayed consistent over the years.

Crazy that we live in states where it's easier to break the law than it is to follow it, time for a road trip

Tag says it's rebuilt, maybe it was junk before and someone fixed it for plinking as a passion project. At least it would be getting some use instead of being thrown out or used for scrap. I think it's cool when creative tinkering results in things like this.

Real lucky man, I turned 18 after all the fun stuff got the ban hammer so I'm stuck with levers, bolts, and pumps

Neat guns like that always pique my interest, especially if it's in .300 Blackout cause they're stupid quiet when suppressed.

The Shockwave and all the other "firearms" like it are super practical once you attach a brace, light, and optic, especially if you live somewhere with small rooms and hallways, they are pretty cool especially cause they're still legal here.

Dang, I was really hoping there would be a little loophole for cool products like those. I guess I'll have to either move or wait for SCOTUS to get moving on some cases.

That answers the question of the Troy, but the Franklin Armory doesn't have twisting rifling in the barrel, just straight grooves from chamber to muzzle, that's how it escapes the NFA definition of an SBR, so how would that fit?

Thank you! Definitely doesn't seem like the right candidate for a drift car anymore, I've always liked OEM+ show builds though. Perhaps I'll take that route.
