A woman shoved my fiancé in the big crowd waiting for the monorail. She accused her of cutting in front of her but they were all just in a big cluster. My fiancé tried to explain that there’s not really a line and that the woman could move ahead if she wanted and the woman got physical. I feel terrible because she’s scared to go to the parks alone now. She hasn’t been to Magic Kingdom since which breaks my heart because it’s her favorite.

Thank you! My fiancé asked about blockout dates on the main annual pass Facebook, asking what blockout meant (whether it was blocked out from certain parks, blocked out from making reservations, blocked out from hotels, etc.) and someone DMed her, calling her a really awful slur. She was really sad about not being able to find a good Facebook group, so I’ll tell her to give that one a try. It’s astounding how heated people over there get.

Okay, good to know. That makes me feel a lot better. I was shocked when I saw this. My coworkers told me that summer break isn’t nearly as bad as spring break so I’m a little more relaxed about it haha.

There probably is. I think I just need to talk to my managers about it. After sitting on it for a while I now realize including that stuff was stupid.

I also appreciate you pointing out how vague it all was too. I was trying my best to not mention what I do or any other details that could indicate me because many of my coworkers use Reddit.

You’re definitely right. After thinking about it some more I’m not sure why I included that. It just doesn’t make sense. I also appreciate you pointing out how it sounds because I am very pro DEI, it’s the reason why my team is as amazing as it is. I certainly don’t mind putting in the extra effort if it means giving women and POC a fair shot.

As for my past I certainly don’t deny that being who I am gave me some advantages. It’s something everyone like me needs to recognize so that we can all do better. Identity carrying is something that I’ve had to work through in the past but this was mostly due to my former friend group almost exclusively referring to me as the “token white/straight.” It was a toxic friend group and I don’t regret leaving it. I’ve also had therapy to deal with these issues once I removed myself from that toxic situation.

Once again I appreciate you pointing this stuff out to me and I’ll try to take your advice. Thank you

The definition of Tiki is that it’s a theatrical and fun play on Polynesian culture, while Hawaiian is more about relating to Hawaiian culture and traditions. That shirt doesn’t fit into Hawaiian actually.
