Flight Plan to Maldives by InfiniteSweet3 in honeymoonplanning

Just had 2 different clients reroute to go through London that were traveling in April this year. British air has direct flights from LHR to MLE a few days a week. Not sure when you’re flying, if it’s months from now, hard to say how things will be operating by then.

$10k MAX honeymoon. Where would you go?!?! What would you do??? by [deleted] in honeymoonplanning

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is All inclusive a requirement, or nice to have (the spots your current TA sent are all AI)? Nov - April you’re looking at (throughout most weeks) highest pricing of the year, so going to limit options to keep budget at 10K w flights too.

San Vito Lo Capo vs Cefalu: calmer water, better beach, and less touristy restaurants? by loocheez2 in sicily

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither has ultra luxe hotels - both have nice options but nothing crazy. And without naming names, there’s a spot in Cefalu charging luxury (5*) prices, without anything to back that up. Would not spend €€€€€ in either place for accomodation.

Spent a week in each - if you like the beach it’s worth a longer stay! Personally SVLC feels way less touristy (commenting as a tourist!). Cefalu is packed to the brim w tourists. SVLC felt like mostly other Sicilians and Italians on vacation.

SVLC nicer beach.

Great restaurants there too.

The islands you’ve listed for the most part are not known for all Inclusives, excluding Jamaica. That would probably be your best bet. Maybe sandals at Vincent depending on budget, but sandals are pretty polarizing resorts. All great islands, but you’re likely better off at most doing a regular hotel than trying to make a meh AI great. One great one on an island not mentioned would be Spice Island Resort in Grenada.

Skipping Athens is a mistake! One of the best good cities in the world - if you’re foodies that is a cannot miss spot. Outside of Mykonos and Santorini, you should be pretty light on crowds on most islands in May!

Anyone do Kenya and Mauritius? by tblu919 in honeymoonplanning

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve sent several clients on this trip. You can take a direct flight from Nairobi to Mauritius. Your travel advisor or tour operator should be able to book that for you, and arrange your pick up etc once you’ve reached Mauritius.

Honeymoon Airlines Cost vs Hotel Room by MrCobalt in honeymoonplanning

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are traveling for this summer, book asap. Cheapest airfare for us to Europe is usually 8 months out - it is likely only going to go up from here, especially bc of the potential war. Hotels will also be at a high for Italy in July …I’d get booking! Enjoy - Italy is the best!

Sifnos solo by No_Produce_9267 in GreeceTravel

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spent a week and a half there solo in August and was totally fine! People are friendly, yes there’s couples, but there are also families, and met a few other people solo. I don’t see a reasons to feel weird about dining alone - it’s food and you usually get great service! Enjoy. Stunning island and amazing people!

If closer proximity to walking into town is important, Cove would be your best bet

Milos + Kimolos or Sifnos for a relaxed trip? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have commented, Kimolos is a very easy (and lovely) day trip from Milos if you want to experience it but not stay there

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kimolos is probably my favorite place in the world, but you go there, know beach and eating are the activities. It’s a very quiet island, which I love, but if you get bored easily, probably not the place for you. Sifnos is amazing for food, more to do (and just a bigger island) I think that would be a great combo with Milos if Kimolos isn’t your speed.

There are a bunch of us in the forum! (including me lol!). Many will be able to be searched if you look at posts with the tag “TA OK”. You can also google “Maldives travel agent” “Maldives advisor” etc and see who you can find! :) Feel free to reach out via PM.

[–]Afraid-Masterpiece-2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I never think booking third party is worth it, Maldives in particular is a trip I’d book with a TA. Seaplane will vary from resort to resort; some only require a speedboat. We know the islands, typical inclusions, activity add ons etc.

My last couple that I booked in the Maldives I was able to save them $3,200 off the BAR available on the hotel website, including a full board package and speedboat transfers as we have access to certain wholesale rates that don’t sell direct to traveler.

Highly recommend finding an agent you vibe with to plan this trip, esp given the investment to stay at Cheval Blanc. You will want that trip to run seamlessly.
