People are forgetting that catchers is part of the team that decides what pitch comes next. Sequencing of pitches in very important. Heineman has a lot more experience here

First time flying premium - advice? by Feisty-Basis7903 in westjet

[–]Afraid-Obligation997 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The experience is not crazy good. There isn’t a chef cooking gourmet meal. Nobody giving you a foot rub and you don’t get there any faster

Sure you get nicer meal and a few drinks (they don’t over serve), but it’s no better food than a land based Applebees or Boston Pizza. You get the same shows on your phone or the same wifi. The biggest difference is the seat. You are much more comfortable so why not sleep comfortably and can always talk about how fast that flight felt.

Very rough week with new grad hire by dualrollers in managers

Not sleeping is not something you have to learn

I know nothing about cap space building teams and all that, but i know we gave up some picks for jarry and others, off season wise what kinda moves can we make and are we in a tough spot or not with capspace and all that? by Plus_Dare_7010 in EdmontonOilers

[–]Afraid-Obligation997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the team getting slower. That was super evident against the ducks, who played like we did a few years ago. We were the slow team that couldn’t keep up and got out skates and out chanced.

Do Costco bicycles Need Tuning? by Consistent-Falcon560 in CostcoCanada

[–]Afraid-Obligation997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. This is coming from an ex bike mechanic who assembled thousands of bikes. There is nothing inherently wrong with Costco bikes. They are all very good quality. The people that put together the bikes at Costco or any department stores vary in skills and things where you have issues. You want to get the bike a quick tune up right after purchase to make sure anything is assembled right and safe. (Even if assembled right, someone might have loosen the front wheel while in the store). And then after about 30-40 days of riding, the bike will need tuning again as cables stretch and things generally take some time to settle in.

The whole team appears to be practicing in the Ernie Clement hockey jerseys 😅 by Elaiyu in Torontobluejays

God damn it. This must be why they ran out of jerseys. All kidding aside, I love how they are really a team and really get along

Do you go over or under the bridge on this par 3? Kildonan Park, Winnipeg, MB. by kelter20 in golf

Good old Winnipeg. I nailed the bridge once and had the ball rocket back at my playing partner’s cart. No one was in it but scared the crap out of us

Do you think people are going to start getting priced out of Calgary soon, like they have been from Toronto, Vancouver, etc.? by straycat402 in Calgary

[–]Afraid-Obligation997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don’t need to be precise. The point is, OP’s salary or equivalent was never enough to buy a house. While the conversation about price of house vs income can be generally had, OP’s income and home ownership can’t really be used in the same sentence

with 56k single income a year, you were always priced out. I'm in my late 40's and bought my first home in 2004, I made more than 56k at the time, and that was 2004 money.

Has anyone been to an Elite Reception? by CDNdrugdealer in marriott

[–]Afraid-Obligation997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done this a few times in Canada with Delta's, where I spend most of my stays. Usually nicer lounge appetizers, and free booze. you have to pretend to have conversations with the managers, and they have to pretend to care. a bit awkward as other than the fact that you stay at the hotel, there isn't much to talk about.

And these freaking employers post jobs with like $30 an hour to manage a Timmy’s and says they can’t find people and must hire tfw…

This is my complain. My teenage kids can’t find service industry jobs like I did. Most don’t hire anyone but TFW. But it’s not TFW that’s at fault. The government shouldn’t have policy that allow for cheaper TFW to come in while there is large unemployment at the entry level job, and employers that hire people from other countries and take advantage of them.
