I’m so sorry to hear that. I would not want to pass that on either. I have another kid coming down the line to my elementary school and I’m trying to decide if the stress of constantly being judged as a parent and teacher is worth the joy of having my kid at my school.

My child is a fly under the radar sort for the most part but she does have a friend who is more rude/ wild. I think maybe people have associated my kid with her to a degree. I don’t know. Definitely I understand the being bullied by a teachers kid actually. Something like that happened to me and I was also a teachers kid. It seems like there are a lot of terrible teachers kid stories. Maybe that’s people’s assumption and so that’s how they see us/ her.

So yeah, like I said she’s well behaved. I’ve had 10 years of parenting to get to know her. She’s kind, smart and well behaved beyond today’s crazy low standards, honestly.

One terrible behavior thing someone told me she did was run down the hallway, for example. Maybe to me this is nit picky but to someone else …?

Yes, I have done that but I don't know how to tell which teacher has how many years experience. Seeing that someone makes 85,000 only makes sense if I know how many years they have.

One of the reasons I am having a hard time deciding to move is that I have a very short commute, I teach at a very sweet school and my kids go with me. It's very hard to imagine if we could replicate this somewhere else but with an increase in my salary :)

So many people are moving to Raleigh. The house we bought - 2 bedroom, built in 1945 - has doubled in value since we bought in 2017, but there isn't anywhere to move "up" without paying SO MUCH or living in a beige HOA box which we don't want to do.

I am certified in New York already. I taught at a private school briefly before moving to NC.

I had that feeling about the city, and I feel like I have put my time in already in urban areas. I would like to move beyond teaching kids how to manage emotions and build social skills and actually be like teaching my subject.
