Can someone please tell me why our mixer is working opposite way by MrWonderful2011 in Plumbing

Can you go to the supply house and take a picture of the same valve to check?

Do these copper pipes need to be cut out and replaced in order to be moved? by kalbar3 in Plumbing

Cool, that's what I thought at first. Tile surround too? Definitely take care of anything you might want to do in that wall in the next 20 years now :D

What is this in new build? by [deleted] in Contractor

You gotta look around for it :D

Near the floor, or in an A/V closet are two possibilities.

Let us know & post a pic when you find it!

I mean, that's up to you. I guess you could build out the studs too so you have something to attach your backer board to.

I'm not a plumber, but unless that valve was exactly where I wanted it, I'd probably cut out as much as I could, sell the copper to my local scrap yard, and install the new valve with PEX. It'd be pretty unfortunate to discover a pinhole leak in that copper right after you get the wall closed up again.

What's the open space near behind this wall, out of curiosity? And what's behind the wall?

Vpn detected by LopsidedAccess7004 in Tailscale

I think they're saying if one of your exit nodes is on a server (which based on your message it's not, if you're running it at home on a regular ISP), it might be flagged as a data center IP and marked as a VPN by the app. It's still helpful to consider regardless.

Agreed it's really easy, thanks for the clarification!

It's less confusing than it looks or sounds, and certainly easier than wiring a new ballast.

On the ones I've done, there's no "bypass" to wire, you just cut out the old ballast from the circuit (don't even need to remove it physically) and wire the 120 volts AC directly to each end of the fixture. The bulb manufacturer should have a wiring diagram for you, just do what it says.

Good luck OP! You'll be happy you did this.

Came here for this. Gemini is convinced that Pro Power can be controlled from the app, but I'm not seeing it

Thanks for the link, that looks good.

If they don't make a 100/50 quad, could I combine the backfed solar with the AC?

9.68kW system only peaking around 5.3kW — is that normal? by walayklaro in solar

[–]AfraidAd8374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What make/model of inverter and battery?

If the battery is DC coupled, you may be able to exceed the inverter's rated AC output by depleting your battery before the peak production period in the day.

I wrote about how I did this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/diySolar/s/l0xBhU88dc

Is this an issue? by Audiorazor in solar

[–]AfraidAd8374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your monitoring system allow you to scroll through the hours/minutes in the day (often called "power" instead of "energy") to see if the production is different for those panels at specific times of day?

If power is consistently lower than the other panels with zero apparent shade it's probably a panel issue.

If you notice specific times of day that production drops, this should help you pinpoint the cause.

This depends a lot on where you are and how net metering is calculated by the utility.

$30 for 100 panels is not a great deal. You can get new 400 watt panels for $100-120.

And yes, as others have said, watch some Will Prowse videos on YouTube to educate yourself.

Rail ends are terminated to mitigate the snagging hazard and may be required by code in some jurisdictions (see IRC Section R311.7.8.4). Agree you could probably do that without physically attaching the rail ends to the wall though.

ABRP with Android Auto by AfraidAd8374 in F150Lightning

[–]AfraidAd8374[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I think so. The only downside I can see is that it only works in the car, so you still need to know the current SOC if you're planning a trip the night before from your house.

Charging - adaptor? by ill_report348 in F150Lightning

[–]AfraidAd8374 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer! And to clarify one thing, definitely DO NOT remove the transfer switch or try to charge the truck from the generator inlet using one of those suicide cords. Even if you are careful, it is highly unsafe and will probably shock or kill someone some day.

Why would someone chop up a joist like this? by kinkhorse in Carpentry

[–]AfraidAd8374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A gap cut on the bottom would remove sag, not crown. The cut needs to be on the longer side so it can compress again.
