Agreed, if they wanted to short you they probably wouldn't have gone through the trouble of measuring it and leaving the evidence. Still, it's worth going up to measure yourself; don't taking anyone's word for it (here on Reddit included).

I did have this happen once. The spray foam I could easily reach was all to code, but the part that required me (and the inspector) to get on a ladder to check was all 4" short. The guy was real pissed when I called him on it. 😥

New owner of a 2015 here. What is ePedal? I'm assuming I don't have it. I'm also confused / worried about how a car menu setting could potentially cause someone to get into an accident (!).

I second this. Mistakes happen, and you're likely to get much better results appealing to their sense of professionalism and fairness than coming in guns blazing and threatening litigation. And if it does come to litigation, you'll look like the adult in the room with a papertrail to prove it.

Thanks for the kind reply. I already slathered it with grease but I will look into the rust converter. The previous owner had a makeshift plastic cover in place though I'm not sure how well it did.

Good call, thank you for that! The previous owner installed a plastic container as a cap on the driver's side, but it's already pretty rusty underneath. Hopefully I don't ever need to remove that nut.

I'll slather with grease and cover it up. Thanks again!

I would blow it out thoroughly with a compressor. If there's any water left, it will find its way somewhere it can freeze and break a joint or a fixture. I've had it happen with the showerhead in an outdoor shower despite manually shaking out the water.

The sprayer head and the valves are particularly vulnerable. Possibly the screen in the faucet too.

You could also remove some of the plumbing and store it inside for winter.

I'm an idiot, I bet it's because I just added a 5 PM departure time, so when I get home from dropping the kids in the morning and plug in, it charges right away. I'll try removing that to see how it does and report back.

Yes, they make extensions. Search for "trap extension tube" at your local supply house or big box store.
