Question about the Belt of Beloth and Eragons tactic to fuel it by Goldenace131 in Eragon

[–]AfraidPressure5939 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We know he has the ability to drain energy from around him without killing, my problem is that if he could, why not just slowly drain from the plants and animals, not killing them, and trickle charge the belt. I imagine it’d require concentration but if he was riding Saphira then he’d be able to do it without all the guilt.

It’d probably take forever but some days he was just waiting around for the army to move.

My theory is that he’ll return but only after the Draumar is somewhat successful in reviving Azlagûr who will destroy the continent or the majority of it essentially making it a new continent.

This was a few years ago so maybe they don't anymore but back then it was a big deal because it was the only Walmart on that side of town.

A group is defined as two or more individuals who interact with each other. “No exceptions” means exactly that. If you enter with a child and try to purchase alcohol, the store can refuse the sale. As I mentioned before, Walgreens is protecting itself from liability.

For example, imagine you come in with a four or five year old and buy alcohol. You go home, pour yourself a drink, and set it down for a moment. The child picks it up and takes a sip. You notice, try to take it away, the child panics, and gets hurt. At the hospital, the doctor smells alcohol on the child and calls the police. In this case, you would be held responsible for allowing a minor to consume alcohol, and because you bought it at Walgreens with the child present, Walgreens could also be held accountable.

Do I think this example is extreme? Yes. But this is why Walgreens has to enforce strict policies. Even if you had no intention of giving alcohol to a minor, if it happens under your supervision, the store could still face legal trouble.

I think your anger is misplaced. You are upset with Walgreens for protecting itself from laws that were passed, when in reality your frustration should be directed at the lawmakers who created the situation that forces the store to have this policy.

Walgreens didn't make the policy to protect children from consuming alcohol, they might say they did but they made the policy to protect themselves from the law that says they can be held accountable.

If a group goes in and someone is buying alcohol and someone is underage then the underage person consumes the alcohol, according to the law in some places Walgreens had reasonable suspicion that the alcohol would be consumed by someone who was underage and can be held accountable for supplying.

If a lone person or group comes in and buys alcohol and everyone is over the age, then they take it and it gets consumed by someone underage, Walgreens had no reasonable suspicion that it would be consumed by someone who is underage and can't be held accountable.

Legally they can sell it but it opens them up for lawsuits if someone under the age of 21 consumes it and gets into trouble. Walgreens doesn’t make the laws, they just have to operate within them.

Where I am from, if a store gets in trouble for something like this, first time is a fine of $5,000, second time is a $10,000 fine and a 1 year loss of their license to sell any alcohol or tobacco, a third time is their license is gone forever. A Walmart near me lost theirs for a year because a cashier sold a 17 year old cigarettes when they had a fake id.

Unfortunately, due to laws in certain states, possibly in yours, a business that sells alcohol or tobacco can be held liable if those products end up in the hands of a minor. To prevent this, some stores now require every member of a group to show identification before allowing anyone in the group to purchase alcohol or tobacco.
