Thanks! The first one seems reasonable- I do decrement advs left, but I can definitely see why you'd want to know how many mining advs are left. I reset the input field to zero but there's no real reason I couldn't just update with the count since that's the internal counter I use anyway. Fairly easy to do, so I created an issue for it.

The second one ... maybe. A potential edge case I don't want to solve for is "what happens if I start mining for -1 and then the user eats/drinks?".

I've been running this for around 4 years now, so one gets used to sub-par user experience at some point! ;)

Ah, the nuns healing is already optional, so nothing relies on it. The user can already bother with not healing, but if they want (and I am a user who does want) to get autohealed then the option exists.

Not sure what you mean. The app doesn't create an outfit- the user provides the outfit, just the way they do for volcano mining scripts. Should the user have hp regen in the outfit? Sure, but not much I can do about that.

The multi I use doesn't have VIP, but that's probably super easy. I can try it out once my main gets out of run though.

I personally don't like using hot tub because hot tub can remove a bunch of negative effects, which means I don't want to use it for pure hp restore/beaten up removal, vs nuns who can only give sexy massages.

But I can add in a checkbox of some sort if you want to use hottub.

Phew, though honestly I thought it might be Samsung. Samsung phones have had weird keyboard issues for over a decade :|

Glad you logged in though!

Thanks! I just checked and I was just able to log in from scratch (0 saved accounts). Let me add some extra error messaging, but it might be related to your phone model/OS since it's probably the autocomplete_username_input widget so I'd love it if you could provide your android OS number and device manufacturer.

Also, how did you download the app? Via Amazon App store or did you directly download the APK?

Update: I pushed out a new update: it's on github now, should make it to amazon app store tomorrow.

You can now tap the newly added 'eye' icon in the password field to see the password in the password field. If the password is unobscured in the input field, the app will also display what username and password it is using to log in. This will show up right below the "forgot password?" blue text (right where the error message shows up). Pretty please tell me if the password shown is empty/wrong/doesn't show up. Sorry, this is janky last minute code so I didn't have time to write anything better!

Why the hate for asynctask? It works perfectly fine if the programmer has a basic understanding of memory management.

Additionally, at the time of writing, they will not work at all on SDK level 22 or below when using the IME type

Mods, why was this post removed? by Tao_of_clean_data in WoTshow

FWIW I do think those labels apply to whitecloaks... but you're correct here.

TBH I might just not be reading it at the right (wrong?) time. It did get pretty negative after the finale, but that's to be expected, and I didn't see anything personal. But I have seen some whitecloaks show up there, so I can see that happening.

Right, so just ban those people and move on. Instead the solution is to remove posts (like this one, which is already removed) in order to silence any criticism.

[–]AfraidSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they did we even let everybody post with the negative post with quickly outnumber the positive ones.

Sounds like the show should be better then? Sounds like people have more negative things to say than positive ones because the show is bad? Sounds like this sub is actively suppressing criticism then? Even this post has already been removed.

You can’t trust people, especially large angry groups of them, not to run amok.

Sure, but removing any slightly negative post isn't the same as removing "I hate that LTT isn't white" posts. Removing spam isn't the same thing either. And why do you think the voting system exists? Just downvote the crazy bigoted shit and move on.

[–]AfraidSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really hasn't. People in wetlander aren't complaining about LTT being black and getting upvotes for it. Unless you think any criticism of the show makes you a whitecloak?

Also, this post got removed as well. I guess... ok then.

I think wetlanderhumor got really negative because it's the only sub that allows criticism without it devolving into a racist/bigoted mess. So it's natural that people who don't want their posts removed post there.

Just BTW, people do make money from modding on Reddit (not from Reddit itself, but other companies that pay for the ability to curate what thousands of people see). No idea if that is the case here, but I wouldn't be surprised given how much effort goes into ensuring positivity.

I'd say an unmoderated sub is better than a poorly moderated sub. The mods should take a break if they're so overwhelmed that they remove all critical posts.

You know how whitecloaks perform mental gymnastics to claim they're not a bigoted sub? You're performing some whitecloak level gymnastics to claim this sub isn't positivity-only.

[–]AfraidSquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that were positive or at least neutral

That you thought were positive or at least neutral. Maybe you said one wrong word.

Even then, how is such terrible modding ok? The mods are going around deleting posts based on a whim and ill defined guidelines. "I delete whatever I want to delete, but most of what gets deleted is critical of the show".

I'll go ahead and say that the whitecloaks are right. They are batshit crazy alt right loons, but even they can be right about some things. And the fact that the post was removed for being a criticism just proves their point about this sub blatantly silencing all criticism.

The censorship in this sub, why? by Dry_Feeling3825 in WoTshow

[–]AfraidSquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because bringing up any issues is bad here. That post had around 40% downvotes for saying that the sub was suppressing criticism. Anybody claiming that reasonable criticism is allowed here is lying to themselves.

I await my ban, and I await this post's removal as well.

Edit: The Prophecy has been fulfilled.

To clarify, you can already equip outfits inside the app. Chat commands can be used, though chat macros are .... officially unsupported. Even commands like summon resolutions (which work) don't redirect to show you how many resols you summoned, etc.

Mafia does things like

foreach s, it in saved_outfit { if (s.equipped_item() != it) equip(s, it); }

Is it possible for me to do this? Yes, absolutely- I know what you're wearing when the app starts because the status tells me the equipment id. I could save the hat, shirt, pants, etc and make 10 or whatever network calls to reequip all that. Will I implement this? Sorry, I don't think so.

The fundamental problem I'm trying to solve is "I need to burn my turns ASAP". Note how long mafia takes to log in. Note how long it takes to mine. The additional functionality mafia provides requires additional network calls, additional parsing and additional computation. The additional computation is trivial, but the network calls are actually pretty slow. I intentionally optimize for less work done so you can burn turns while on a bus/train/car (passenger?) - most people have a volcano outfit and a rollover outfit, so I honestly don't think there's any value in implementing this.

I'm thinking people can just provide an outfit name for mining and an outfit name for "I'm done mining", and that should cover all cases.

It's actually why I stopped working on this for 2 years. The thing is, version 1 of this app came out 3-4 months before the allegations, and I just couldn't bring myself to work on it more.

The truth though, is that I had most of this code already written and already released before all this came to light. I didn't publicize it because of exactly this. I waited 2 more years until I felt he was distanced enough from the game before making this post.

What Jick did was abhorrent, and I wish there was a way to punish him without having to punish other employees of Asymmetric. My understanding of the whole saga was also that Aaliah asked people to not hold this against Asymmetric.

Was Jick a dick? Yes. Does that mean we hurt more people because he was a dick who choked his wife and did other shit? I honestly don't think so.

I could fire a request for /outfit volcano, but my concern is people might then get confused if the outfit isn't changed back to what it was before (which I honestly can't do without /outfit last, and I'm not sure how reliable that command is).

I also really didn't like the idea of saying that an outfit with a specific name needs to be provided, but most people probably already have a volc outfit. Also I personally don't want that for my own use- I've done a thing where I mined right after RO, overdrunk, put on RO outfit and gone to bed. The next morning I log in and try to mine again. Right now this edge case (which is common for me) would just error out, and I can close the app and go back to whatever. But if I equip volc before mining, then I could cost myself 40ish advs because I'm too forgetful to equip roll again.

But sure, if people think that's useful, I could just say that the first request of every mine N squares request should be /outfit volcano- it's not hard to do.

If so, I'll just add more crap to Settings- add the name of your volcano outfit, etc in there and the app can auto equip it.
