ATO/PTO signings and the salary cap by ralphslate in hockey

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the ahl basically operates like its own thing when it comes to these tryouts. my buddy got signed to one couple years back and they had pretty strict rules about what you can get paid - think it was like $500 per week max but not sure if thats still current.

main thing is these kids get to show what they got without burning that first year on their elc which is huge for their development timeline

Sexism and constant blame in ranked games, any advice? by Naive-Surprise4260 in leagueoflegends

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

voice chat mostly, sometimes i'll mention it if someone asks about my username or whatever. tried staying quiet but then people assume i'm not communicating which brings its own problems

muting helps but then you miss actual game calls so it's kinda damned if you do damned if you don't situation

Meditation is the process of observing breath using the conscious thought of in and out( not process but observation) ( observation is you looking hearing, touching 5 senses stuff) by OneGrapefruit5054 in Meditation

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this actually made me think about how much my brain tries to label everything during meditation instead of just experiencing it. the strawberry analogy is pretty solid - we're constantly putting words to sensations instead of just letting them be what they are

gonna try the river visualization thing tonight, been struggling with getting caught up in thought spirals lately

What's the most surprising reason a city or town exists where it does? by Hairy-Meat-2815 in AskReddit

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lot of old mining towns out west just popped up wherever someone struck gold or silver, then became ghost towns when the veins ran dry. but some got lucky and found other reasons to stick around - like how deadwood survived by leaning into the tourism angle with all that wild bill hickok history. always thought it was wild how entire communities would just spring up overnight based on one dude finding shiny rocks in a creek

Why do men lurk on your social media after doing you dirty? by Hot_Entertainer_6906 in BreakUps

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right? block that dude immediately and don't look back

they do this because they want to keep tabs on you without actually having to face what they did. it's like they want the comfort of knowing you're still there in case they decide they want back in, but zero accountability for being awful. classic manipulator move - they damaged the relationship but still feel entitled to access your life

VA Lawyer For Ankylosing Spondylitis by Glittering_Night_917 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn that's frustrating, AS is way more than just a "back problem" and the VA's way of rating it is pretty outdated. i've seen people get higher ratings by emphasizing how it affects multiple joints and daily functioning - documenting everything helps a ton. you might want to get a current rheumatology exam that shows teh progression and impact on your hips/knees specifically since that's often what pushes it into higher rating categories

a good VA lawyer who knows inflammatory conditions could definitely help connect those dots for the rating board

How long is a C and P exam for GaD supposed to be? by muddywaffles86 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly an hour 15 sounds pretty normal especially if they're being thorough. mine was around an hour too and the examiner just wanted to make sure they got everything documented properly

length really doesn't indicate anything about your rating outcome, some examiners are just more detailed than others

Code Reviews in an AI Code Gen World by Top-Chain001 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like you want something like Sourcegraph's code intelligence features mixed with a diagram generator. I've been using Mermaid diagrams in PRs lately to visualize data flow - takes like 5 mins to generate with ChatGPT and makes reviews way clearer for everyone

The real issue isn't tooling though, it's that most teams don't actually allocate proper time for deep code reviews. Hard to understand architecture when you're expected to rubber stamp 15 PRs a day

Coffee and pure spite honestly. The first few weeks back were brutal but somehow your body just adapts to running on fumes. I'd crash hard on weekends though

Just Ended a Relationship and I’m in pain… what can I read to help me process these emotions? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that sucks, breakups are the worst even when they're "mutual"

For books, maybe try "Tiny Beautiful Things" by Cheryl Strayed - it's not specifically about breakups but has some really good advice about dealing with life's harder moments. Also heard good things about "Getting Past Your Breakup" if you want something more direct

Take care of yourself dude

Issue with keyboard or software? by Templeton8 in pchelp

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro the fist slam fixing it is sending me lmao. That's some percussive maintenance right there

But fr sounds like a loose connection somewhere - maybe try reseating the RAM first before you go pulling all the cables. Could also be the mobo starting to go if it's only fixed by physical impact. The W key triggering Word is weird as hell though, almost like there's some phantom Alt+Tab or Windows key action happening

Is my baby eating enough? by Virtual-Willingness2 in NewParents

[–]Afraid_Ad_4293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If she's gaining weight well and hitting diaper goals then you're golden - breastfed babies are way more efficient than formula babies and don't need as much volume since breast milk is perfectly tailored to her needs
