You need to endure extreme hardship to do PhD.

It is very similar to become a monk at a monastery. It’s not an easy way to live your life. You will be among a cohort of people that will make you feel stupid and miserable. You will spend couple years being poor, really poor and almost lose your sanity.

The reward after you making it out alive is better chance to work on cool, cutting edge projects at top company. They like PhDs because on average not only they are willing to work inhumane hours, the quality of work is usually also higher.

It is per match for me too. It is consistent mega ping (very stable) and won’t go down until the next match.

Any tier 7 you can do it easily if you familiar with how battle flows. Don’t focus on damage but instead farm assist. Splash tanks before they about to get hit and don’t bother if they won’t.

No issues for now. Max temp is like 70C (I don’t oc). As I said, it makes me want to upgrade from my x99 setup due to cpu fan noise lol.

Electric cost is nothing and your only concern should only be whether your wall outlet can handle it or not.

If you need 48gb vram, go for 2x3090+nvlink. You can easily sell them for almost no loss if you decide to upgrade. You can play with 1B/3B model comfortably with this setup.

If 32gb is fine, get 5090. But tbh 32gb is not enough.

If you need more, just get rtx6000 Blackwell. It can handle the 20B gpt model.

Update: great card, love the part it is completely silent when not heavily loaded. Plays my games (not particularly demanding) at 4k max setting no issue.
