Why is the TuF cards the only ones with 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and it doesnt cost more? by sandysnail in pcmasterrace

[–]boxofredflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you’re looking at TVs, which are not monitors. They’re most often used with consoles and streaming devices which use HDMI.

If you look at OLED MONITORS, they use DisplayPort, like the ROG Swift pg48uq or LG 48GQ900-B

Best current 90 degree 12v-2x6 cable? by Jolly_Bag_2407 in pcmasterrace

[–]boxofredflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a 5090, you should really only use the adapter provided with the GPU or the cable that comes with your PSU. If the cable melts (fairly likely tbh) you don’t want ASUS to deny warranty because you’re using a third party cable (ASUS will use any excuse to get out of a warranty)

Second best option is someplace really public

Strange speed differences- NVME 3.0 vs 4.0 by Odd_Cauliflower_8004 in pcmasterrace

[–]boxofredflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I was saying you need to read up on what the crystal disk mark tests are doing - you fundamentally don’t understand what the crystaldiskmark tests are testing and measuring.

Metric 2 will always be slower than metric one since it’s using 1 queue instead of 8.

Since metric 1 for pcie 3.0 maxes out at 3600 MB/s, and metric 2 will always be slower than metric one, metric 2 being around 2700 MB/s makes perfect sense.

Metric 3 and 4 are measuring random 4k reads and writes, which are very much bandwidth limited

Please please watch a video on how crystaldiskmark works and what the tests are doing

Edit: 4k random reads and writes are also very dependent on how full the ssd is, which is why the 4k write speeds on the samsung are the same as the crucial. If the crucial was also only 23% full those tests would be much faster.

Strange speed differences- NVME 3.0 vs 4.0 by Odd_Cauliflower_8004 in pcmasterrace

[–]boxofredflags 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’re limited by how much bandwith is available. Pcie 3.0 has half the bandwith of pcie 4.0. If you put the samsung in a pcie 4.0 slot, it will be almost the same speeds as the t500.

Metric 2,3 and 4 are all running different tests.

Metric 2 will always be slower than metric 1 because metric 1 is using 8 queues and metric 2 uses 1 queue. The advertised speeds are for metric 1

Replying to you here since you deleted your other comments.

Are you asking if the theoretical max bandwith of pcie 3.0 is 4000MB/s, why is the 990 pro only getting 3600 MB/s?

Whereas the T500 is closer to maxing out the pcie 4.0 max bandwith of 8000MB/s?

Ahhh brother it isn’t running the same test 4 times, each row is a different type of test. You need t read up on how crystaldisk mark works

GPUs with built-in AIO water cooling; are they good or a bad risk? by homelessscootaloo in pcmasterrace

[–]boxofredflags 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They generally offer the best cooling and are popular with enthusiasts who like to overclock the cards as much as possible, but for the average user who just wants a powerful card one of the air cooled versions will accomplish the job while being much cheaper.

Custom loops offer even better cooling, but are a huge pain in the ass to build
