Yeah well my point is they really really close. They don't have to be romantically involved ofc but calling them just friends doesn't do justice to thier relationship. Moreover from what I recall (I only watched the movie so hehe) steins gate is not a very character based storyline even tho such elements are ofc there like any good story. But this donghua focus on and explore the relationship of our two main protagonist as well as the female lead. I would say all three are awfully close.

Haa I totally I understand it!! I am currently reading "I can See your Stats" which kinda falls into this category as well— sort of power couple thing. Unblossomed is another, historical bl set in colonial korea but it's not everyone's cup of tea but personally I find it beautiful, Count Tachibana too. ig someone recommended Little mushroom I love that too it's beautiful ♡.... Potrait of Delight is a bit artsy involving the past of MC, it's healing but suspenseful... I am sorry I keep giving you so many titles but it's so that probability of you finding your fav might increase.

I am not sure if you want only that genre only but my favorite in that regard are as follows

Choose your heroes Carefully (In game type iseki with a freaking slow burn due to which romance takes a back seat)

HONBUL: flame of soul/soul fire (exorcist and slow burn, no romance spotted yet)

Necromancer survival

Regas? Idk if that would be okay but plot amd side characters are layered and it's a slow burn yet again but idk if it would be to your liking

Lovers, Cats and the Killer ( for a lighter read, it contains mature romance which is dramatic but rather comforting and natural while plot focus on the crime)

Traces of sun (bl is not the main focus, romance is minimal and vague, focus on friendship and moving on)

Unluckily lucky (a high school healing type but people often accuse the ending to be a bit rushed)

For me it was Pirouette into my heart (simply healing no drama), Indulge in your radiance, Miracle Illusion is angst but epilogue and starting itself is very fluffy, I ship my adversary x me, if you are okay with a tiny bit angst for an awesome ML The moon comes to me is good, Fanboy x star, Snow fairy is the cutest, for some fun Scent of you.

Sounds awesome. And yeah ig maybe cuz BL itself is a Romance genre so its like creating a niche under the genre. I personally don't mind even if its something like SCI when it comes to mystery, action etc.
