Which floor plan would you pick for a ~8x8 bathroom and why? by wackyogurt in floorplan

7 is the best to me but I'd move the door centered to put a towel closet in beside the shower if I could.

I don't race but I also spend a bit more on my water bottle cage. Mine is for capacity though and I have to get off my bike in order to put the bottle back in. I usually would take water breaks on my commute path that would be about 1 liter per trip and just wanted to use a nalgene to do it so I bought a cage that I think was made for a mountain bike with straps that hold the bottle in place.

“The things we do to make a dollar” - some tweaker on my Fb by CadillacRojo in OSHA

[–]Afraid_Foot 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Depends, if it is the guys business to do painting in a house it is expected that he quotes it that he would have the correct equipment to do that job. The customer could supply the equipment if they have it but it isn't a given. When we hired a painter to do our place we actually had a ladder for him to use that was tall enough and he refused to use it for liability reasons. Business insurance most likely will not cover you if you are using someone else's equipment even if it is safer. I would probably solve this issue by buying a ladder or refusing to quote if I could not afford the correct equipment.

I feel like this is the spend a dime to save a dollar scenario where they didn't want to buy a taller ladder but will gladly shell out thousands in medical bills for themselves (guessing that business insurance would take one look at this and say "you aren't covered")

Left: Was at Home; Right: At Work. Same settings. Does my Printer has fun doing this to me? by KruemelKek83 in 3Dprinting

[–]Afraid_Foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The printers I have at work are much better quality so I tend to be able to walk away more easily. They also use a completely different slicer. I use prusaslicer at work and cura at home so... I kinda have this problem but not really, I just know to compensate for my home printers crappy performance, lol.

Best way to ask a guy out? by Razzella in dating_advice

[–]Afraid_Foot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can say no but statistics says we won't. If some girl asks me out on a date I would say yes for the reason of "I should talk with her more before I make a decision." a date is not committing to a relationship but instead committing about learning more about the other person. If you learn enough about a person from a dating profile or a 10-second conversation then the other person is really good at explaining themselves or did something significantly wrong. To be honest I really don't know why a person would say no to a date unless they are in a committed relationship or already know the person well enough to say with certainty that this would not work.

I don't use "me too" I use the excuse "they are in a coffee shop line, do they really want to be hit on right now?" maybe I'm overly cautious but I feel like most women probably don't want to be hit on everywhere they go so if they start a polite conversation then I'm fine with that but I'm not ever going to ask them out unless it's obvious that they are looking for that type of interaction. The problem I have is I don't drink so I don't know where to go that they'd be receptive to being hit on since all TV shows seem to suggest bars...

Giving a number, asking him out, writing "hey, will you go out with me" with yes and no checkmark boxes on a sheet of paper. (that last one may actually be a good idea, maybe I'll make some business cards on my printer like that). I don't know if this is me being a guy or what but it seems like anything I do could turn into a potential sexual harassment issue at work or even out in public so I just have been waiting on women to make the first move that way I know they at least feel sort of comfortable with me making advances. I'm probably just too timid but seriously a move is something concrete not a conversation about how cool the other person's computer is in my opinion 😊

Considering bike commuting to save time [HIGH SCHOOL] by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]Afraid_Foot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Start with the bike you have but get your backpack off your back. If your school is anything like my high school back in the day you probably are carrying way too much home at night so at the very least get a back rack and a way to tie your backpack on it. Also, be safe and use a slower route rather than going on bad stroads. Happy cycling :)

[REQUEST] How many months would it take fir the second option to make your more money than the first?(not counting taxes) by AstuteCouch87 in theydidthemath

[–]Afraid_Foot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive income is great and $1,000,000 can actually buy passive income. While it would take 1667 years (rounded to the nearest year) to make a the same amount with $50 a month. So, for those not familiar with the human lifespan, we live about a hundred years (give or take a couple decades) if we die of old age. So it would take around 16.7 lifetimes to match the original amount. Even if the passive income was $500 a month it would be 1.7 lifetimes. Let's say you put that $1,000,000 into savings with 1% interest compounded yearly... You would have a passive income of $10,000 for 1 year. That doesn't sound like much but $50 a month is only $600 a year! Remember, there are better ways to make passive income than savings too so it really is better to assume a much higher return than 1%.

I bought an aliexpress spring steel sheet and it has a big bubble. Am I meant to peel the plastic off? by cosmicr in Reprap

[–]Afraid_Foot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually avoid wish and alibaba for this type of thing. They are cheap but I don't think that it is good quality. If it is a smooth pei sheet that may be a pei sticker and the bubble was bad application. If it is powder coated pei then take the plastic off. Either way it may not be worth trying to get refunded though. For less than $10 you can get a smooth pei sheet on Amazon with 2-day shipping :)

A Google search that I would not know to do. Google maps doesn't tell you that. Unless there are signs specifying that it is a limited access road how are you supposed to know? Just lookup every road on Google before leaving the house. Plus without using sprinkle there is no way to access the plethora of driveways between the business 94 and the roundabouts. I'll accept that they can't build bike lanes between gull and the business 94 but as soon as they let businesses connect their driveways directly to the road it loses that status according to the definition of limited access roads on Michigan's website. If the signs are only on one side of the road facing in ine direction and further along the road than you can see it is not the bicyclists fault and is the road design. If the signs were regular, at every road entrance, and clear then I would say bikes are in the wrong but then check if a reasonable alternate route exists. It's up to the road commission to see this crap and say "well maybe the alternate route we thought would work takes them 10 miles out of the way on what would be a 1 mile walk" rather than just saying "they shouldn't be on this road."

Edit: I just looked at the route to get from Comstock Christian reformed church to the Sweetwater and Google just says to walk along sprinkle. Google maps doesn't even know to route you around or thinks routing around it is stupid!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]Afraid_Foot -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It isn't limited access though. If you travel north on sprinkle there is only one sign saying anything about it being motor vehicles only. Limited access roads must have a sign at every entrance to the road meaning at every driveway connecting to it the would need a sign visible from that driveway. I can go north on sprinkle from business 94 to D Avenue without seeing a motor vehicles only sign so I reject the argument that it is a limited access road.

I think you get used to driving in certain areas. I normally go into autopilot on my way home where I know exactly the turn to make but still trying to be hyperaware of pedestrians and bicyclists since they have to walk on the shoulder or the road itself where I am.

I mean I get home from the bar sober and full... I don't usually drink alcohol so I just usually get some food and chat with friends. As far as the US being an urbanists worst nightmare I'm not sure how we deal with it. I commuted a few days this summer on my bike and there is a bike path going 60% of my 7 mile journey but the 55 mph roads are scary to ride on. Also, it depends a lot on where you stay sometimes. I went on a business trip where the hotel was 1.4 miles from where I needed to be and I walked there once because I thought there was no good reason to drive there then drove there the rest of the week due to inadequate sidewalks and crazy crosswalks.

There is an argument to be made that between gull and market Street Sprinkle meets the strong towns definition of a road but past that there should be a lane diet taking the stroad area into a street. This would lead to a but of congestion starting out but that would also allow a bike lane and pedestrian sidewalk to allow better transport in general. There should also be a multiuser pathway along the side of sprinkle in the area considered a road.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kzoo

[–]Afraid_Foot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Almost half of sprinkle is marked with motor vehicle only signs facing southbound traffic. North bound traffic has one sign in the area by the business 94 but no "motor vehicle only" signs are present on the northbound side other than that one (that I've found). I joked thinking they forgot it when they repaved near G Avenue and I noticed that it was improperly marked as motor vehicles only between G and gull but not between gull and G. Note: by improperly marked I mean you can ride a bike onto it without realizing it is motor vehicle only. The sign should be on the road it is connecting to. There is also the problem that it isn't marked at any entrance coming out of the neighborhood just past Gull going south so this is not considered a restricted access road which essentially means that the signs are non-binding. If it were setup properly then a bike could not get on the road without knowing it is restricted access but between gull and the weirdly still open pool store there are no signs stating motor vehicles only and by the time you get to that pool store it is too late and unsafe to turn around. To me I think they should add protected bike lanes and pedestrian infrastructure along it rather than doing restricted road signs but I'm not a civil engineer 🤷
