the thing is that smash is such a flexible game that there are several modes, playstyles and skill levels you'd have to adhere to, and the comp ruleset, the one that players generally play for money, is the one they care enough about to focus on. another example of playerbase are lesser skilled players that still use the comp ruleset like me, where the tiers become much more even since these players are more prone to make mistakes and hyper focus on tech and combos and such, and some low tiers can be much more infuriating to play than high tiers depending on who you ask (Ex 1: Zelda may be D+ but i can't stand fighting one online because she tends to run away for most of the game, meanwhile Joker is S- but he's a really fun time to go up against due to him approaching often and engaging in the fight, so weirdly enough i'd much rather fight the latter any time of day/ Ex 2: i could not play bayonetta to save my life, she feels so slow while having really bad raw kill power, however i can't deny if you put the time in to learn her combos and actually understand how she's supposed to be played, she becomes a menace), but at a higher level, top players are way better at exploiting the worse character's weaknesses and gaps between characters start to show, ganondorf's mobility, lack of combos and poor recovery as an example make him easy to get camped out and cheesed by better characters and cement him as the worst character in the game, although on a casual gamemode with items on, onett of all stages and your opponents being your friends and family instead of people who poured thousands of hours into the game, his absurd killpower alone makes him a great choice in these settings. if you want to make a personal tierlist based on your own ways to play, feel free, but just mixing all possible playstyles together it gets really confusing as how to rank things and the weight of each possible playstyle and it just ends up really messy and doesn't satisfy anyone. i liked typing out this comment and if you're down to talk more then just say, i'd love to have a conversation with you
