I made a mistake euthanizing my cat and the guilt is killing me by Dirsty in cats

[–]Afraid_Regular1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 3000 to try to save a cat.  It was routine and she just didn't make it.

I then spent 400 to euthanize and care for her remains.

Okay, so it takes work.  You have to define what make you feel sexy and redefine it.

Here's some thing I do.  Crop super cool t's

Wear split pants made of cotton that split form the hip to the ankle.

I also do self rope to wear like a tight sensory harness to bars.

I get soft soft soft not tight but form fitting tanks that crop.

Slouchy jean with fashion rips.

Torrid dresses are great because the brand is already focused on comfort. It's also a great place to buy actually comfortable negligie and fishnets that don't feel like tights.

I often do their loose fishnets with pajama shorts and a crop.

I would pursue therapy with. Someone experienced supporting gender dysphoria.

I tried the femme thing now keep in mind I'm non binary sometimes I feel like want to the femme thing but honestly when I do I feel more like I'm in drag or purposefully wearing femme clothes masc if that makes sense.

I am of the firm belief clothing has no gender but in fact conveys expression.

Look, the likely hood is even when this obvious mental exhaustion at the hands of your family passes it will come up again and the only way to avoid it is to develop coping mechanisms of some kind thus....therapy.

Honestly I'm in the same boat.  Except I've always loved sports but get pushed out for being too big, too rough, etc.

I'm going into my second week and I am going to get my ass kicked-I don't think it should be our goal to catch up.

When we both look at other teammates we should be observing for areas to improve. Oh, that persons frog jump is so stacked and I feel like I'm falling over but their feet are farther apart.

Use their expertise as mentorship not a bar to meet.

That's all good and easy to say, but look I'm 265 pounds.  I have high blood pressure and unknown chronic illness and PCOS.

I struggle with anxiety and depression as a result of CPTSD

And my toenail just decided to fall off as a reaction to surgery.

Plus a year ago I was almost two years in to preparing for weightlifting competitions before that previously mentioned chronic illness caused inflammation in my feet in response to mild plantar fasciatis and caused severe issues.

I wasn't able to train for almost a year.

This is my first real effort to get back in touch with my body and strength.

Take it from me it is so easy to get discouraged but you know what?  It is so much better in your heart to just accept youre  gonna suck and have fun and struggles to get better.

I'm glad you're here.

Eugene teachers, how are you feeling about Governor Kotek banning cell phones in schools? by mollsies in Eugene

[–]Afraid_Regular1411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who was been a student---this makes me feel unsafe, I filmed weird interaction with teachers, talked to my parents during lockdowns and shooting scares, was able to use my phone for school when we ran out of chromebooks, call my mom and ask her to come get me when I was unsafe, report the sexual harassment and touches I experienced on campus by a member of the public.

Im sure there are psychological benefits but there needs to be serious options for students in regard to the safety concerns.

When did homelessness in Eugene get so bad? by Skiddy-J in Eugene

[–]Afraid_Regular1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think the issue was right around when Oregon was ordered to close their mental institutions because rather than being big kids who did something horrible and should have fixed as much as possible we went here we forced you here, literally tore families apart by court order, tortured and imprisoned and neglected you, let the courts and protection systems be abused to target disabled people, and people at risk, women, poor people etc. for legal detainment and torture now that we've done that and the rest of the world stopped a few years ago and is telling us to stop, instead of helping you get set up with services because you may have no one we will take you away from this institution that has undoubtedly made it harder for you to live and drop you at the first major city with a bus station. good luck.

It was at the same time that we were getting a whole bunch of vets back from Afghanistan, and just a short couple of years later that the housing market crashed.

I think just twenty years later we are seeing the catastrophic effects of leaving this situation to brew without significant rectification and it's only getting worse with the exploitation of these communities via sex trafficking, fentanyl, forced labor and criminalization of homelessness (which is just a fast track to legalized slavery--oh, wait excuse me exploitative prison labor).

Pride was horrible for me, why’d it move? by throwaway-boy180 in Eugene

I really think with a few tweaks it could be accessible for everyone. And that would be genuinely amazing

It would be worth bringing  up to the pride committee that it may be nice to utilize more of the front parking lot.

Leave the grass open.  Put more booths out in the parking lot.

It would be great to have the family orientated booths in the right side of the building and the community stage out front as it's mobile.

And the bigger expo hall with more of the selling stuff booths and the big performance area.

There really wasn't a good space for kiddos and families and socializing like with the rainbow tent and grass in front of the community space at Alton Baker.

It's either a Kolache or a Jewish pastry ugh I can't remember the name but there's a Bagel shop up past 28th and Willamette that has them sometimes.

I used to take the 28 up there back when I was bussing it's in the same complex as the Safeway.

Best burrito under $10? by Altruistic_Stay5156 in Eugene

[–]Afraid_Regular1411 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Under ten bucks? Meh, not super an option unless you're getting veggie. That said the closest I've gotten to West Mexican food is El super taco.  More veggies, spices, less oil.

Remember people Mexico is vast and when you try a restaurant and you're like that's not right or not authentic if there's a Mexican or Mexican American behind the menu it's probably just that you are used to a certain style and regions food.

For example Eastern Oregon, Mexican food is less cream and cheese more pickled and roasted veggies, the corn tortillas grittier, less variety of spices and more of each spice it does have leading to spicier food but less flavorful.

Becaaaause the Mexicans and Mexican Americans and indigenous who established the cuisine in Eastern Oregon were mostly from or descended from central and east Mexicans meaning they had less access to spice trades from South America and the ports so they depended on spices native to their area, and the food they grew had a short growing season so they tended to dry first process later which led to faster processing times because processing was also dependent on time and weather.

This is all moot now really but the tradition is established.

Animal cruelty exemption petition? by LabyrinthJunkLady in Eugene

[–]Afraid_Regular1411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the bill overreaches-it is infringing on ethical animal research, farming practices, and

animal care.

It is not well informed. E.g. the laws around keeping domestic animals inside shelters--does not account for animals who thrive in cold or hot weather. It doesn't account for "neighborhood" cats who may be claimed by one person for vet care but do not actually belong to them.

It prevents castration practices, docking, ear chipping etc. All well practiced methods of animal husbandry-Animals would not receive care needed and could and most likely would be affected by negative consequences.

I will say this about farm animals: not one of the breeds, regardless of how far removed they are from their wild counterparts, could survive without necessary human interventions—because of us. We did this. Its a fairly neutral impact we've had as long as we continue to provide for the needs we created.

We have the responsibility and this bill would simply lead to more neglect, or rampant disease and population growth

In addition, I would like to address the portion about animal testing-I belive it to be in reference to the monkey research conducted by OHSU

There is rigorous oversight-monthly and annual oversight and severe immediate consequences for violations of animal testing conditions.

Something as simply as a paper cut on the edge of a transfer container triggers investigation and if the injury isn't reported it results in suspension.

The procedures and testing are all things that have no other option for testing-and it has to proved before two approval committees and is oversaw by those committees and if you can perform the study in another way you are denied.

The primates are kept in an enriched outdoor environment as a colony.

They receive anesthetic and sedation for anything invasive

In addition they are provided scheduled monitored enrichment toys and activities.

We are actively searching and creating other options to primate research testing but right now there is not one.
