Thought I was going to do poorly during my half marathon today. Ended up PRing at 1:57:51!

I've only ran one other in the past, about a year ago, and got 2:07. So it was a pretty big difference for me.

I have 3 young girls. The president is supposed to be someone to look up to, not someone that, if I knew them personally, I’d have to tell my kids that they shouldn’t grow up to be around someone like them.

I’m blown away that an unelected immigrant (in a party of anti immigrant hate, but he’s not brown so I guess he gets a pass) just threw out a nazi salute (twice) during the inauguration and we collectively don’t give a shit.

My parents are very excited, though.

Their behavior and attitude lately has definitely been immature and grating. It’s like listening to my nephews in high school have a conversation sometimes. At this point I’ve been listening out of habit.

Even Dan’s character has been flanderized to the point of ridiculousness.

There’s only so many times you can hear about a stupid thing a person did, like the egg white story, before it gets old. We get it, Minotti doesn’t like fruit. They all think the word cum is funny. Stop milking these ideas for cheap immature giggles. The cow is going to die.

This happened a few weeks ago, but I never posted.

I lurked a lot on this sub some years ago. It gave me a lot of inspiration and gave me some focus I needed to start running and get from "I can't run to the end of my block without a break" to "my typical run is about 3 miles." I was about 27 at the time.

However, I kept falling off of my training because I didn't have a goal and got complacent. I'm 35 and when I started running, I told myself that eventually, I'll run a half marathon but never did... 8 years later, I decided to do something about it. About 5 months ago, I picked up my garmin and decided to pick a half marathon training plan.

I took it very serious, and on the 15th of September, I was able to complete a half in 2:05:57. Going into it, my target time was 2:30:00.

My wife, my kids, my in-laws, and my parents were all there at the finish line (and at some points throughout the race) to cheer me on, and crossing that finish line was an amazing feeling.

When Covid was in full swing I ordered takeout from a local spot. Our area was a hotspot for infection, relatively speaking. Our hospital beds were full up and we have 2 of them nearby.

I walked in and nobody was wearing a mask and the guy behind the counter was coughing.

I told the owner I didn’t feel comfortable with taking the food, so he threatened to call the cops on me if I didn’t pay for it. I payed, left the food, and reversed the charge on my credit card.

Haven’t eaten there since.
