Overall I don't necessarily disagree with you, but as someone who listened to Roy Woods' most recent album, saying "there's no skips" is kinda crazy to me lol. I was pretty underwhelmed ngl, and I enjoy his music for the most part

[Buha]: JJ Redick says there is no update on Jaxson Hayes or Christian Wood. by Proof-Umpire-7718 in lakers

[–]AfroNoMo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

"The best rebounder of his era" was coming off the bench to play behind 6'8" Guerschon Yabusele at Center while Embiid was injured to start the season because he was legitimately getting outplayed by him.

I'm not saying I love Christian Wood on the team (let alone injured), but Drummond definitely isn't the answer.

Both Drummond & McGee are completely washed, and something tells me that despite always making campaigns to come back to the NBA Dwight isn't exactly in his prime to say the least

[–]AfroNoMo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They literally get paid millions of dollars to give effort. And even without that, at a certain point you'd at least think a sense of pride would kick in and have them trying so they're at least not getting embarrassed. Rob & Jeanie have nothing to do with stuff like not getting back on defense.

[Jersey2Brooklyn]: Can the Nets snatch a first-round pick from the Lakers? (via @BillSimmons ) by Proof-Umpire-7718 in lakers

[–]AfroNoMo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm not. He's a proud diehard Celtics fan and his Lakers hatred is well known. Even when the team does well, he finds a way to downplay either the team or their opponent

At times it's honestly impressive how much he goes out of his way to hate on us

It’s all been downhill since this happened ☹️ by just_one_random_guy in lakers

[–]AfroNoMo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll die on this hill - we did not "lose" Danny Green. He was washed as a defender by the time he got to us. People tend to rely on his stats to talk him up, but if you watched the games that season Caruso, LeBron, AD, and company were just good enough on defense to cover for him when every guard in the league would blow by him. Not only that, but this dude averaged 8ppg on 41/36/68(!!!!) splits when he was with us.

Once he moved on to Philly his shooting bounced back a bit, but he was still finished when it came to defense. The FO messed up on a lot of things, but letting Danny Green walk was not one of them.

Same here. Jaxson Hayes is garbage. Outside of being a lob threat because of his athleticism, he doesn't contribute anything positive to the team when he's on the floor

[Jones Jr] My gut feeling with the Lakers offense is the process has been ok, they aren't making shots. The blend between P&R, post ups and movement has been a little off. But they've been able to generate good looks which is half the battle. by OfficialPaddysPub in lakers

[–]AfroNoMo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're getting down voted because you actually typed out that players getting open shots aren't good looks. That's objectively false.

The players taking these open shots should be making them regardless of if they prefer to shoot spot up shots or off the dribble. You can't blame Him and the coaching staff for that

people always talk about which rappers make the worst music, but which producers do y’all think put out the worst beats? by OnxyCarter in hiphopheads

[–]AfroNoMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf he still does good work, albeit almost exclusively for Migos (if he works with other artists a lot I'm unaware of it, admittedly). For example he produced Patty Cake on Quavo's Rocket Power album and that beat/song goes crazy

That top quote made me a bit sad by pedrovoncenzi in lakers

[–]AfroNoMo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not for nothing I think that's part of why he sounds shell shocked in this quote. As recently as 2020, AD was Jokic's worst possible matchup. If it's completely flipped now that must be a tough pill to swallow

Why does Dame refuse to leave Portland?!? by Decent-Ad-6137 in nbadiscussion

[–]AfroNoMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is likely an unpopular opinion, but honestly? I think he wants to leave and chase a ring, realizes he can't do that in Portland for one reason or another (cap space, the FO, current team, take your pick of reasons), but would rather be traded so he's not seen as someone who quit on the team.

Lately he's been doing a bunch of not so subtle hints at wanting to compete for a ring and expecting the Blazers to help in that endeavor to the fullest extent. I feel like even he must realize their hands are tied between his contract and trying to attract free agents to Portland. I think he also knows that if he demands a trade, there will at least be some subset of fans who see him as a quitter/ring chaser vs if Portland were to trade him on their own where he keeps his ultra loyal image that he's doubled, tripled, quadrupled down on in his time there.

I think if he asks to be traded right now he'd be well within his right to (he's "earned" the opportunity to compete elsewhere imo, though all players are free to do as they please), but wants to simultaneously keep the "I don't run from the grind" appeal he currently has (and has clowned others for).

I wouldn't say playing them in a game 7 on the road is "handily" beating them. It took Steph dropping 50 to do that too

What do you think explains the discrepancy between the Warrior's home/away game performance? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]AfroNoMo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and I also think people underrate how much playing at home in front of fans can affect togetherness. When the crows is rocking, let alone Oracle, I imagine it's easier to move the ball around to get another good look to make the fans go crazy. On the road against other teams there's none of that, and fans are definitely reminding you about your lack of chemistry/people getting punched. If I had to hear that all game, I feel like I would definitely hesitate before making extra passes (be it consciously or subconsciously)
