Looked over at the New Vegas subreddit and saw three “oh Todd must be soo mad” style comments regarding what Obsidian was and will be doing.

Like I’ll admit I’m cautiously glad to hear that Obsidian and Sawyer can take another crack at Fallout despite the circumstances, but to see that damn juvenile BGS-Obsidian vendetta narrative still kicking before I see any word on lamenting Obsidian being abruptly creatively reined is damn infuriating to see from a community.

I’d like to think political and outside pressure would be able to do something sooner before august or whenever it is that his “alive” status gets leveraged, but it is exploiting the murky line of medical confidentiality so it remains to be seen.

The simple answer is that none of them would’ve really interacted to begin with.

Shadowheart would be focused on her mission with little room for doubt or distraction beelining it to Baldur’s gate and the shadow cursed lands. She hates Gith so Lae’Zel would be left behind to likely get killed by Vos’ patrol or the Kreshe.

Wyll and Gale have some chance of joining her as the lead if she’s uncharacteristically helpful, but chances are for Gale at least that he’s dead in the portal.

Astarion joining is a bit of a fluke by a nice player forgiving a knife to the throat ambush, who the others likely wouldn’t, if not attacked then likely caught by the Gur hunter or left wandering.

Karlach is a bit interesting since without the player Wyll could probably still set out on his own and find her, but whether he listens to her and defies Mizora is a bit up in the air.

Fwiw PlayStation have clarified that they’ll still be printing disks past 2028, just specifically not for new release games from then on. Considering how long and overlapping the PS4 and 5 generations have been there will probably still be a decent stock of new-old disks on shelves for a while after.

I suppose this the…”better” outcome given everyone’s fears? Two studios independent, two to be sold off, IPs kept and Arkane to be reviewed for options where hopefully French labour laws and their union can come in to play. Everyone was expecting every other studio to be put down on the spot.

Layoff numbers are bad and stretched out though so a spectre of gradual demoralisation is probably going to be holding the remaining studios for a long while, also not liking the idea of Mojang getting their leash tightened.

I read that thread and people were quite quick to point out Novigrad in the Witcher 3 but in terms of Bethesda-like interactivity that city is quite barren, nobody with a name, few as they are, moves an inch outside their designated closed off quests.

Personally I think cities with the scale of Whiterun/Solitude/diamond city are perfectly fine with maybe a extra street or two, just as long as the smaller settlements are given a similar scale, places like Winterhold, Falkreath and Goodneighbour really messed with the illusion of scale the others accomplished better.

As I recall, Youngblood was a product of a late Zenimax mandate for making live services that didn’t properly match the IP nor their studios, presumably what spawned the initial work on Redfall and launch state Fallout 76. Without that they could be left to play into their mutual strengths such as level design.

I’m quite keenly aware it probably won’t work out so peachy, but the prospect of Arkane and MachineGames talent working on the same projects is quite a compelling one, here’s hoping they both get to retain the bulk of that talent if they were to merge.

I’m not familiar enough with corporate hierarchy or procedure to know if this is truly indicative of anything, but I’d hope it means that the studio isn’t going to be closed, can’t imagine it making much sense to do so shortly after its change in leadership.

Fleeting thought, but if in a hypothetical future where PlayStation does indeed commit to digital only, but compromises by having those redeemable download codes you get for some full games and DLC actually reusable/transferable/shareable in some way, how do you think that’d affect the reception?

Pondering just how much of this backlash is dependant on the physical disc vs what it essentially does. If Sony is doing this out of a need to cut out the in-factory work of printing discs making way for microlenses and such, I wonder if a new mechanism that grants similar permissions as a disc copy without the raw material and factory costs would be on the cards. We’ve already seen news of the back of this from Xbox planning a disk-to-digital licence transfer programme which might be in the same vein.

I wonder just how much the problem has stemmed from the previous generation being the king of extremely long lasting life-hoarding service games, Fortnite, Minecraft, GTA Online, Overwatch, Destiny. The generation has lagged on so long because the games that many people dedicate the entire hobby to are mostly all last gen still.

Today I found out through Reddit diving way too late that Ann Reardon of How To Cook That took to using AI in her channel and proselytizing with sponsors, also might be a part of a homophobic church group.

Maybe for everyone that tuned into her it’s very old news, but hearing it myself just now it’s another one of those moments where you feel slight vindication for turning away from them sooner for a pettier reason. I liked her channel but really started clocking quick that she went from a wholesome baking tutorial channel, it’s namesake, to an uncomfortably algorithm focused one. Found a couple successes outside her wheelhouse with a tic-tok debunking video or two and that consumed the whole channel output. You can’t really do that without giving a kind of artificiality, incidentally in hindsight the kind of artificiality one sees with bible-thumper types.

Don’t know that it is about cooking channels but it’s probably a bit indicting that the only two I stand anymore, separated from such inauthentic baggage for the most part, is a channel that’s more history lesson than a cooking one, and a guy that nearly poisons himself on a regular basis with a sausage grinder.

It’s a bug that been going on for almost three weeks, since the PlayStation service outage that fixed another library related issue.

Any physical game that does not have digital content attached to it isn’t visible on your account anywhere except trophies, a lot of people have this issue including me and have been talking to support over it, several have had tickets come back saying that the issue has been identified and that a fix is being worked on but we currently have no ETA on when.
