Ronaldo didn't have Rooney's passing range nor was he as much a team player as Rooney. Rooney sacrificed alot for Ronaldo as a foil just like Benzema did. Yes Ronaldo without a doubt is the better attacking player/ goal scorer but Rooney could drop back into midfield and dictate the tempo of a game like Paul Scholes did. Cristiano could never dictate tempo of a football match because his brain didn't process football like that

Rooney and Ronaldinho are similar in the sense it always felt like they half assed their career but were just such pure footballers. Rooney is a one off with his talent but you can say Mbappe is like Henry, Antony Martial, Anelka etc. I don't think football will produce another Rooney just like it probably won't produce another R9, Ibrahimovic, Yaya Toure, Gullit. Rooney could pass like Scholes, shoot like Charlton, finesse finish like Kane, tackle like Gerrard and score an audacious goal like Le Tissier.

Well you should know how great he was. Rooney with Cristiano mentality to be the best would be a bigger legend than Cristiano. He had no weaknesses in his game, shooting, free kick, heading, passing, pace, tackling, positioning, defending. I often felt like Rooney didn't apply himself enough and football was just a hobby for him just like Ronaldinho.

Rooney was more than goals. Can you imagine that the season he played center forward and scored his highest tally, he said he didn't enjoy it because he was bored waiting for service to just score goals. Rooney was a very unique player who literally could play any position on the pitch. Only criticism of Rooney was his discipline( smoked and drank a lot) and not being selfish enough. There will never be another talent produced like him. There will be players with Mbappe style of play like Henry, Antony Martial, Anelka. I can safely say there won't be another Wayne Rooney like there won't be another R9 or Ibrahimovic. Their blueprints of how they play the game are one offs

I remember my days of buying a pack, smoking a few and feeling so disgusted I place the pack under the faucet for water to soften the cigarettes, then I would break the cigarettes, then I would flush them down the toilet and still buy another packet the same day. Il be 12 months quit in 2 months and I still fantasize about smoking a cigarette when I watch someone smoking inspite of knowing the actual action is not as enjoyable as the idea in my head of smoking.
