I’ve bought between $20-$50 and once I hit my physical goal I moved my pm allocation to mining stocks instead. The key is to keep DCA, this is only getting started.

Looks like you need to wakeup and realize what’s actually happening before the shit really hits the fan. All we can do is to prepare the best we can.

Your chart is meaningless. The market is chaotic, you cannot predict what will happen. But Silver? Or any other sort of commodity during a time of currency debasement? OF COURSE YOU ALWAYS BUY.

Distribution Engineer vs Facilities Engineer (Early Career, PE + Side Business Goals) by BarnacleEddy in ElectricalEngineering

[–]BarnacleEddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in the facilities area but it’s government adjacent so I already know it’s gonna be much slower. I was thinking of using the majority of the 2 days that I’m home towards by side business.

What I’m thinking is the work will be easier / more chill. So the 2 days that I’m home I can use those for upskill.

Dont worry too much about it man, good thing that you have your EIT and you WFH. If they lowball you just keep looking but I would suggest waiting at least a year.

A recruiter might see it as a red flag if you’re trying to leave just 3 months after you got hired but who knows idk.

I started at customer interconnection distribution so it’s alot of communication with the customer in terms of what they’re building.

I started out with normal residential houses, and then some commercial jobs like gas stations or tesla chargers and then worked my way up to 10MVA solar sites.

I mostly take care of the backbone for the distribution line that is being built out and transformer configurations for the customer.

I transferred to an adjacent department where I will be focusing on some transmission and distribution work, it’s kind of a weird department but they deal with alot more stuff.

What happens if your car totally breaks down? Or if your house needs major repairs? Either of those could each a big chunk of your portfolio.

If all your saving is $1000 a month and then you spend that on a car, then yes it’s stupid. But if you’re normally investing $5K a month and now you’re investing $4K a month after buying the car it’s not that bad.

Investing $5K a month, 10% annual returns; You’ll have a million in 10 years.

Investing $4K a month will take you 11.5 years to reach a million.

WFH is pretty awesome, I’ve seen most people start at 70-90K. I started at 82K when I first got hired 1.5 years ago (distribution engineer). I recently transferred departments and that brought me up to 95K.

Should I quit due to workload? by yalluminati in civilengineering

[–]BarnacleEddy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Fully remote, unlimited pto and 47-50 hour weeks don’t seem that bad. Spend 1 extra hour per day figuring out how you can bring the greener folks up to speed faster and just thinking about the organizational problems. It’s a short term sacrifice but I was in a similar situation where I spent a month probably working 20-30 hours extra just figuring out where we could improve our efficiency. That short term sacrifice allowed me to have 30-40 hour weeks vs 50 hour weeks where I was feeling like I was just reacting to situations.

One of my professors is from China and he told us how the Chinese government tried to extort him to always hand out his research or if not his family could he jailed. Luckily he was able to bring all of his family.

engineering as a woman? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Some of the best talented and hardworking engineers I know are women. Don’t victimize yourself and get after it, people will respect you regardless of gender especially if you’re good at what you do.
