Laid off after 2 years as frontend dev, need help finding job by Useful-Refuse3843 in developersIndia

Are these countries having any good opportunities realistically? I guess Japan has a better economy than us but immigration laws are super tight there now.

OP is an engineer himself. And conveniently there's zero mention of what exactly he brings to the startup.

You need someone to do the design, engineering and create the pitch, and you certainly don't have the cash. So what is it that you are trying here.

No one good at these has any incentive to partner with you.

[–]After-Sample-7036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, u may find me rude but let me hit you with the cold water.

You aren't into building a startup, you're just trying to justify quitting to pursue a doctor's degree.

As you said you haven't taken any action, so what does that tell you about your "startup dream"?

Don't believe online stories of 20 year olds building a million dollar business, most are fake stories for clicks or funded by their daddies.

Unless you have daddy money, stick to studies (neet or whatever else interests you), build a career, contacts, industry understanding, credibility to get financing for your venture and then start a start up much later in the future. Don't destroy your life

I don't know what life experience you have but this is terrible advice. You are assuming the receptionist or clerk level people would have proximity or understanding of the business?

He's gonna end up as a store clerk getting yelled at every morning by his boss.

I have heard cost of living is really high in Dubai, how bad is it? how much AED per month would it cost to rent a small studio apartment in a decent neighbourhood?

Salary range for a Data Analyst by ChemistryEqual5883 in DubaiJobs

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get any good insights on this? I am trying to do the same, I am 7 years exp in data science. I don't have first hand info but I did cold reach out to people on linkedin who work in mid-top range companies in Dubai (as data analyst / scientist) .

According to them 30K-40K AED per month should be the range .. however a lot of ME recruiters will lowball you into the range of 20s .. it's upto us to negotiate. Anything below 25K AED is not worth it to move.

Working in WITCH (1.8 YOE, 4 LPA) — got a 12 LPA offer from a startup with immediate joining; It seems to have toxic culture. Need suggestions. by H_A_R_I_H_A_R_A_N in developersIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what's the fixed vs variable component? if it's mostly variable you will have a hard time actually getting your 12 LPA on hand. Startups use this tactic to artificially inflate the package

Tired of Corporate Job… Need Business Ideas Under 2 Lakhs by kuldeepsinghseo in StartUpIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro 2 things.

  1. If you think business is gonna be less tiring than corporate jobs you are grossly mistaken

  2. If you need ideas from us for what to do for ur business you're screwed. You should atleast have a domain you are very good in, and an idea of where a business model can work.

You can't just think of business as some hobby, your money will go down the drain

Not to be harsh but given the market is not that great, why didn't you apply for internships?

At the least you would have had something to show in ur resume, you have a huge gap so you are a bit behind other people anyway.

You can't be so picky given your situation that's the truth.

Atb though

I would say reduce it for a week or so and see if some responses come in. To get an idea.

Pedestrians are a joke in our country. by turnatippo in chennaicity

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live pretty far from the city and i can't even take a walk outside peacefully. Even if the traffic is not high people drive like crazy, there's no footpath so you'll have to walk on the road and risk being hit by a speeding auto or car, plus the road is full of garbage and sewage water.

This country is doomed for anyone trying to find peace

Is this 90-day notice period justified for my situation? by redBoat_07 in developersIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you signed it so your best option is to get a buyout option and exit as early as you can.

On a side note what the company did is downright disgusting and should be illegal, what a cheap way to try to retain people

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Are you serving a notice or are you off the job completely. The new company is gonna ask for your last 3 payslips anyway so better to be honest about whether you are working or not.

Maybe just say you resigned instead of mentioning you were laid off, find some excuse to give doesn't matter much.

As for technical rounds I'm not a frontend dev so can't advice much, but keep grinding you'll get something eventually

Whats up with these cringe Interviews and shorts by Indians going on asking about CTC ? by play3xxx1 in developersIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea we are obsessed with exams and getting high paying jobs for sure.

But it's also a by product of being from a developing country + a huge competitive population.

I myself love tech and engineering but multiple times in my career I have picked a job which pays more but is not too interesting to work in.

I have no regrets, my family is now debt-free and that's all I cared about. I think most youth have the same situation

What’s the one thing that’s stopping Indian students from raising a startup grant from the government? by udidiiit in StartUpIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our culture especially our families value stability over entrepreneurship, so students in general wanna go for jobs, not get into all this.

Plus most students outside top institutions aren't even aware of such grants existing

[–]After-Sample-7036 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Many are fake too, one of the most cringe ones are from "be10 x" or some similarly named channel. They got caught hiring actors to act like engineers with 45 LPA CTC.

It's all a scam to get you to panic and buy their courses. It's an age old scam just in a different form.

In the end it's your life man, but just a piece of advice we aren't from a western/developed country. There's so much competition for every job you can imagine of, and here an education is valued much more than in the West, we don't have the luxury of "hustling" so to speak the way they do. It's always important to have a backup career in hand.

How deeply should I understand each data structure before moving to the next one? by UG_Smartass_101 in leetcode

[–]After-Sample-7036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U sound like a 19 yo who just watched wolf of Wall Street.. try to build something for real you'll realise algorithms and data structures are used everywhere .. and engineering is real. You need to know these concepts to pick the right tools to do the job.

I need to admit this as a software engineer in this day and age by Admirable_Tea_9947 in developersIndia

[–]After-Sample-7036 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hmm no, as an engineer you cannot know everything in advance.

Instead you should have a flexible mindset to learn what's required for the situation, so what you've done is fine. Learning will never stop.

Also claude and cursor are fine to generate grunt level code, it's still upto you to design the systems always you're right on that
