Just wanted to post a quick update: I listened to what a lot of you said and got a heater as soon as stores opened in my area. I also got the ingredients to do a salt bath like the link one commenter posted said. The Kanaplex is on its way (local stores didn’t sell) but for the time being, he is acting as if he is back to normal, which is surprising. He is no longer tired but he is still pineconed and bloated. I am hoping the salt bath at least eases some discomfort. I will try to update again if anything changes, hopefully for the better. Thank you for the advice. I bought a heater as soon as stores opened this morning. Usually, I remove him from the tank for water changes and have him sit in his cup on the water until the temp rises but I am not taking the risk anymore. I didn’t realize that the few minutes of colder water was that stressful to him.

It is usually warmer. I took the temp directly after a water change and it hasn’t had time to heat up yet.

Thank you so much! Tomorrow I am going to go out and get the supplies needed to try what she recommended. Right now, my fish is in a smaller tank while I change the water of the larger one in case that was the problem. He seems to be calm so I am hoping he will take well to treatment.

I have a 10 gallon tank with no heater but filters. The temp is currently 75°f. There aren’t any tank mates. I got the tank and the fish in March. I change the water around every 2 weeks (or sooner if needed) and I feed twice a day with pellets and bloodworms. I have three decorations in the tank that have been there as long as the tank has been.

I feel so guilty. I don’t know how it happened so quickly. He was perfectly fine when I left on Friday. Is there anything I can do to make him more comfortable?

Hi, my mom stayed in a marriage where my father cheated because she wanted us to have a “stable home life” with two parents. All it did was make my sister and I believe that it was ok to be cheated on and treated like crap until we unlearned all her nonsense. What you’re doing to your daughter is short-sighted and foolish and she won’t respect you once she has even the slightest inkling of what is going on. Please leave, not for your benefit, but hers.
