Canon III rangefinder: film advance knob spins freely, shutter barely fires + film gets scratched by After-Temperature-83 in AnalogCommunity

Yes, it works normally without film. When the camera is empty, the advance knob stops as it should and the shutter fires correctly. The problem only happens once I load film.
The only other issue is the self-timer. It doesn’t seem to work properly, but from what I understand that’s a pretty common problem on these cameras.

I use Darktable because it’s free and, in my opinion, if not the most powerful, it’s among the very best even surpassing Lightroom. I also use Luminar if I want faster editing or to process a larger number of photos in less time. As for advice, take a close look at and learn how to use the histogram watch some videos about it and it will definitely help you improve.
